Where has this game been all my life? Early access right now but I am going to buy it tonight - reviews are solid on Steam and it reminds me of a game I played in the arcade in the late 80s whose name has escaped me since then. It was also Eastern/Asian themed and a 2d side-scroller...anyone remember the name of that game?
Anyway, I give you...Eastern Exorcist:

I thought I heard the sound of loins becoming moistened. I thought maybe it was just the Hot Water Heater leaking again. #:-)
Looks awesome! Makes me remember Chakan on the Sega Megadrive! Thanks!
I bought it as I was typing on here last night. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of that 80s side scroller...anyone know what I am talking about?
Side scroller, eastern themed from the '80s, Shinobi?
No wasn't Shinobi. The civilization it was set in was never named but it was a mythical, fantasy type China IIRC.
I have been trying to find the name of this game for so long. I remember major parts of it were set in forests and the player avatar would literally swing from vines while fighting monsters, all Chinese-themed.
Baseball Stars?
^Maybe.
NO!
I have not been able to find it even using all the powers of the interwebs like Moby Games and such :/
Blades Of Steel?
^NO! It was a side scrolling adventure game set in a mythical China-like civilization, with very heavily forested areas that the player could traverse and dive down into - sideways.
GAH!!
Double Dribble?
;D
:2funny:

Shadow Force
I believe Shadow Force was released as Ninja Gaiden for home consoles
You really should post more. That Revenge of the Nerds avatar needs to be seen more often.
No wasn't Shadow Force or Ninja Gaiden 😪
I think you are making this all up for attention.
Back in the 80's? Could be a bad Coke trip. There was lots of bad Coke back then. :o
I don't even like attention or coke!
:/
How about Karateka?
Sekiro: Shadows die
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Wasn't Karateka and whatchu talkin' bout Toonces? Game was from the late 80s. I still can't come up with the damned title :/
I grabbed those from a couple of Steam reviews that said the game reminded them of those two. I haven't any idea what game you're talking about bruddah.
:'(
It's driving me insane.
I loved Karateka! I even rescued the Princess a couple times. But man, I hated that fricking Vulture/Eagle/Bird near the end-game. He was so much worse than the final Samurai Lord.
That was back before the phrase "boss fight" was even in the lexicon!
Gus, in the early 80s, I only played games featuring muscly white guys. Even Mario and Luigi struck me as being "on the edge of too diverse". That was back when the only way you could play a game featuring either of the Mario Brothers was to fork over $0.25 for every 3 lives...
One of my favorite games of all time from that era was Commando - you had to love that one!
I still remember lingering in the pizzerias (there were two near my house that had upright video game machines) for hours playing Commando and the goddamned game that I can't remember the name of!
I blew all my money on the games with the guns where you shoot the Bank Robbers. :bd: :bd:
