An American family caused a panic at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport Thursday when they showed up with an unexploded artillery shell they found while in the Golan Heights, in the country's north.

Saw this earlier. What the hell is running through some people's minds? When would this ever be ok to attempt to bring through airport security, anywhere, ever?

On a personal level, I've a surveying job where I'm working in conjunction with a company doing UXO removal. They've got plenty of stories of people doing dumb shit with the stuff they find.
Sure but bringing it through security at an Israeli airport, of all places? That's a new level.
Another reason why cousins shouldn't marry each other. ::)

Confession: When I was 10ish, I was at a great uncle's house who had what were probably 0.55 Boys atr or 20mm Oerlikon on his fireplace. Guess who thought it would be a good idea to bang them primer side onto the hearth. Well, I survived to firearms safety training a few years later, but it's a good example of why with safety training it is the earlier the better.
Just think what my loss would have meant for humour.
Oh, nice covert placement of
the bird by the inspector/bomb disposal guy. In this instance, it is totally professional.
