This is based on an ancient Ben Hull game.  But here things have mutated pretty far (150 meter hexes, 5 levels of morale)...plus, the Huguenots get crushed every time (not to mention
this battle featured one of the more extreme cases where the Swiss massacred the Germans)...for more mutatant fun, I've let the Royalist Reiters go on strike and leave the Royalist army
and the Huguenot Reiters stay and fight (more or less the opposite of the real event).

But the Royalists do have Tavannes, an expert on how to manage the Gens d'armes with their lances -- if they attack properly they hit pretty hard, otherwise things can go seriously wrong as at
Coutras.  Anyway here Tavannes sets up the main battle to attack:

Tavannes probably isn't going to be able to save the Royalist vanguard.  A lot went wrong, but basically, Coligny's better command rating finally paid off (he's a two and Anjou the King's brother
is a zero).  The Huguenots exploited some lucky artillery hits as the vanguard advanced at a march.  Anjou never managed to change over to some other orders and the Huguenots seem to be
busy overrunning the vanguard:

Anjou gets a charge going while Coligny starts to rally (and during the charge, Rouvray's musketeers kill Anjou, so that's a win for the Huguenots no matter what):
