Quote from: bobarossa on September 15, 2024, 04:59:54 PMPersonally I thought DW2 was an enormous waste of my money.  Loved DW1 many years ago.  DW2 felt like a graphics upgrade with an very annoying alert/messaging system added on. I didn't spend much time with it though due to initial dissapointment and too many other games waiting in wings.

To be fair, it has drastically improved since release. I agree that when it first came out, it was one of my greatest disappointments in recent memory. I had really been looking forward to it, as I poured uncounted hours into the original DW. In any event, with several major patches and a couple of DLCs I'm confident saying that it is now a very good game. It still has a somewhat steep learning curve, particularly with respect to the UI and figuring out how best to configure all of the automated systems so that you are playing the game rather than the game playing you.

But for 4x enthusiasts, it is definitely worthwhile.

So you would say DW2 over DW1 at this point?

The thought of reverting to DW1 would never occur to me. I don't think it even runs well on modern systems.

Hey everyone,

I'm Matthew, the Director of Community at Hooded Horse, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share some exciting news about what we've been working on recently.

A little about myself: I'm a long-time strategy gamer. I'll admit something wacky, too. I played StarCraft on the Nintendo 64 back in the 90's. How? I'm still at a loss myself. From Eve Online to Total War, I've got a wide berth of games I enjoy playing. I recently picked up a Steam Deck for my fiancée, and they've been playing Against the Storm non-stop. Their very first strategy game, too!

Now, if you don't mind, I'd love to talk about what we've been up to recently.

Norland was released into Early Access on July 18th
Cataclismo launched on July 22nd
Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic reached 1.0 on June 20th
Manor Lords entered Early Access on April 26th
Empires of the Undergrowth hit its 1.0 milestone on June 7th
We've also announced some new games, like Whiskerwood and Drill Keeper, though we're still keeping the release dates under wraps for now.

We've got some exciting releases coming up too, including a new DLC, Keepers of the Stone, for Against the Storm on September 26th, and our game Breachway is on its way, too!

You can keep up with us on our official social channels:

Looking forward to seeing you around the forums!

William SRD has a lot of great history-of-a-game videos, but this is just a video about what he's been playing on the side for the past three years.

Interesting...have you played? Any good?

A brief overview about what is going on with the Campaign Series before we dove into the nasty fighting for the villages. Even with the off shore bombardments, this was a tough nut to crack. Block by block we attempted to push through the village, clearing the North Vietnamese troops. Alas, they were dug in like Alabama tics, and we suffered some serious casualties as we pushed into the chaos. Good times, but a doozy indeed.
