Paul Rohrbaugh / High-Flying Dice have announced
Gauntlet about a relief convoy to Malta
QuoteGauntlet run!
Gauntlet is a two player game on the epic naval and air battles for the largest Malta relief convoy of World War II (although solitaire play is easy to do). In August the Malta garrison was on the ropes, with critical supplies nearly exhausted. Allied forces were in full retreat towards Egypt following their defeat in the Gazala Campaign. The Axis forces realized the Pedestal Convoy could very well be the battle for "all the marbles" and mobilized tremendous air, submarine and surface fleet assets to contest its passage. The Allied convoy was savaged but enough ships made it through, including the tanker Ohio whose ordeal was a true epic of wartime heroism, to enable Malta to hold out.
Can you do better? Each copy of Gauntlet is composed of the following:
One 11 by 17 inch point-to-point map
One 11 by 17 inch convoy battle board/PAC where air and surface battles are resolved.
One sheet of 140 un-mounted, double sided counters. Pieces are 1/2 inch by one inch for the naval units and 1/2 inch square for air units and game markers.
8 pages of rules and charts
Graphics are by Bruce Yearian. Gauntlet is released sells for $14.95 plus shipping. Mounted counters can be had for an additional $5.00.
Until the website and order form are updated please contact me directly to order your copy of Gauntlet. Let the dice fly high!

Hmmm.
Perhaps you could try using spelling more phonetically reflective of your actual pronunciation?
I say, old chap. Those counters would have to be jolly-well double sized, what?
how's that?
Spot on, old chap.
I imagine Bawb asking everyone if their wife is a "goer" and if she's into "photography" and such.
Duck hat.
No, I'm sure I don't, and you should know since we have spoken in Steam chat in the past.

New out of Heritage Games, after a public FB meltdown from the original designer
QuoteOFFICIAL COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Mr. Berg unfortunately did not complete Conquistador or do any work after his initial rules submission. Even after he was advanced money. We made repeated attempts for almost 2 years to work with him creatively. I doubt that any game company would have had the patience or understanding that my staff has went through in all of this. It almost destroyed our fledgling company.
I have continued to work on the game (while this was going on) to being about 98% complete. And, still intend on releasing it at some point. Since, playtesting is giving me very favorable results. And, that was the only way it was going to get done. I believe we have a good game reminiscent of the old game. But, none of it is Mr. Berg's anymore. Not a single sentence, card, bibliography, designer notes or map are his.
Also, due to this we are cancelling all of Mr. Berg's titles under contract. And, they will be removed from our sites ASAP. We wish him the best of luck and really did wish that it could have worked out.
Sincerely, Greg Allen

That's quite the pedigree - a criminal, forced to resign as a lawyer for his actions, going back to 1988.
I'd love to see the wheels of justice sweep him up on this one, but I doubt Kickstarter fraud is on the top of many LEO's lists - there are higher priorities.

I don't want to get into the counter clipping debate. (Although I just got an image of our beautiful unit counters for Shiloh, savagely clipped. And I threw up in my mouth a little). I understand it is a matter of personal choice.
Please, get into the debate. We have an entire thread for it!

Those brilliant folks at Tiny Battle Publishing have released yet another fantastic new game. Titled Rifles in the Ardennes, it's a solitaire game set in the European theatre of WW2, designed by Gottardo Zancani. This is the most fun game I've played in a while. Much better than Cats. Hello all,
I'm really pleased to announce you here the Kickstarter campaign we created from Headquarter Games to promote our newest game "The World at War: Europe".
The game it's a grand strategic game representing WWII on Europe. Its main characteristics are absence of cardboard counters, easy rules and fast paced game from 1 to 8 hours depending on the scenario. Some learning scenarios and some campaigns for longer games. The game is good for grognards but also for newcomers to wargame hobby.
The strongest concept in the game is focused on the six major countries economies. The large nations cannot just do whatever they want with their units as in many WWII games, they will have a variable number of "actions" based on cardboard chits that they need use to plan offensives, build units, advance their industry or technologies. The combat is not based on CRTs and difficult process with many modifiers, it's solved rolling some dice on each side and comparing results after aplying some modifiers. Then comparing dice one by one to see additional losses.
You have Strategic Warfare, Economy, Diplomacy hidden to the opponent, historical events and much more.
Access to the campaign here (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/headquartergames/the-world-at-war-europe?ref=d7aom3)
The campaign just started last saturday June 6th and we are over the 60% funded
