That's only a couple of hours from me. Tempting, but I'll be fresh back from Origins and totally out of cash.  :P

So I made it to Historicon (the trip down was a bit of adventure). It is an amazing Con, but the Lancaster Host was a bit of a disaster (rundown and also in the midst of major renovations). Hope I can make it back to next year when Historicon moves to the new venue.

The highlight for me was the talk given by Larry Bond on the future plans for Harpoon and other ATG games.

Unfortunately, Jim Dunnigan wasn't able to make it or I would have definitely caught his talk as well.

This is for the minis rules not the computer game, but they've been researching a lot of recently declassified data and will be working it into the updated game. They know a lot more about how sensors and weapons work, particularly for the Russians and Chinese. Chris Carlson and Larrry Bond are both well versed in the subject matter and I was impressed with what they had to say.

They are also in the process of streamlining the rules across all the products (Fear God & Dreadnought, Command at Sea, Harpoon). They recognize that some of the rules are cumbersome and need to be tailored to an audience that doesn't have unlimited time for monster games. The plan is to strike a better balance between realism and playability.
