Unfortunately, SEC plague rules mean that Auburn will not have their traditional eagle flight at the first home game.

There was no defense, but much entertainment in NC States 45 - 42 win over Wake Forest.  The only 300 people in the stands due to the idiot NC Governor.  On the bright side of that, all were family of players.

Auburn beat Kentucky by 16.  Kentucky turned the ball over three times to none for Auburn.

Unfortunately, Auburn only had 91 yards on the ground with the quarterback the leading rusher.

17,000 in the stands - mostly parents of players and students.  No eagle fly over which is both sad and frankly stupid for Covid.

Sir Slash

True. Now if it was a, 'Bat' fly-over...  :hide: Gators won big today. Also, UCF is looking better than ever.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed in the run game.  I was looking forward to Tank Bigsbgy's debut.

However Auburn's O-Line is too much a WIP to have really killed it on the ground.

What I liked seeing was an opportunistic defense that did well even after losing so many starters, and Nix putting the ball where it needed to be.

I was really impressed by Nix.  The guy made some hard clutch throws.  He seems to have really improved his deep ball and gotten into a rhythm with Seth Williams.

It's going to be tough sledding for him in an all SEC season but he started very well.

And yeah, was going to be a total fanboy last night and post this but got caught in a very long $60k deal negotiation that I closed and got lost.   I almost slept too late for the game.

And woah...LSU.....how the mighty hath fallen.

I agree that Nix was very accurate on Saturday.  He kept drilling passes where it took a good catch for his receiver but was impossible for a defender to pick.  The kid has a really strong arm.

The offensive line was much better in pass protection than the run, but the pass protection was also not that great.

I was amazed the LSU defensive backs kept letting receivers get behind them.

It was creepy watching cardboard cutouts sprinkled with real people at South Carolina, vs the Vols. Off to the right of one of the goalposts was a pair of guys wearing large paper bags over their heads with cutout eyes, which was pretty hilarious, though! (I pointed them out to my parents when I saw them.)

Tennessee only technically won that game. We really had lost, and I felt super-bad for SC. They came back from behind and took a solid late lead, and would have gotten away with it, too, if their punt receiver hadn't lost the ball in the stadium lights or something and called a fair catch two steps inward from where the ball actually landed -- and if the ball hadn't bounced forward to blap the back of his leg! Meaning all the Vols standing around him (a short high punt) could now throw themselves on the ball.

We did play good enough to come back for a win from that point, but as Mom said it was a nasty game.

What is it - 7 in a row for Tennessee?  Is this a new dynasty?

JasonPratt

Mom and I went over the numbers last night and she remembers 7 wins, too. Some were as faulty as last night, so I'm loath to call it a dynasty, but hey, it beats not winning!  ...I mean not losing!

In my defense, my expectations for TN have been very confused for years and years now.  :hide:

Some hard truths here... though a happy-ish ending at least.

And SEC Shorts has already jumped all over that.

Texas A&M in shock, too!

Auburn is at Georgia this Saturday.  Georgia has been the toughest team for Auburn for a decade.  I hope Auburn wins, but would not be surprised if they lost again.  Georgia is a 6.5 point favorite - but the lines have jumped around a lot more this year because of covid.

Sir Slash

Right. Just for that reason the Home Team advantage is totally up in the air. The Bookmakers must be going nuts.

I read sports stories on Outkick.com  They throw in a lot of actual facts and numbers in their stories.

They reported that the late bets on College Football at the sports books in Vegas and elsewhere are bigger now than anyone can ever remember going back decades.  Lines to place bets winding through the casino and sometimes out the door due to length.

Previously, sports betting was pretty spread out the week before a game.  Now the action is heavily concentrated in the last 20 hours or so before the book closes for the game due to late breaking info on who will take the field and who was able to practice during the week.
