Ugh...the shipment with this has been the most frustrating process that I can ever recall.
The units, not surprisingly, ship in two separate packages. After about two days, both packages made it from Poland to the Netherlands. But then this is where things went sideways. One package left the Netherlands after a day, while the master package for some reason remained. Between March 27 and March 31, the second package made its way to the US and onto a truck for delivery while the master package was still apparently sitting in the Netherlands at the FedEx hub there.  In any event, I was waiting all day to see what actually was going to arrive. Finally, the FedEx truck pulls up, the door opens and as expected the one package is there. I'm staring at it as the FedEx driver says, sorry man, I just received a notice from Customs that we cannot release the package to you.  Of course, I ask him to investigate and he calls his supervisor. Finally, they find out that since the master package has not cleared US customs yet, procedure does not allow release of the second package and it has to go back to the station to await the master. So, I watch the door to the truck shut in my face and see it drive down my driveway and off into the sunset.

Of course, I had to leave the very next day for a 7-day trip out of state. The master package finally left the Netherlands, but then mysteriously was not scanned for nearly 24 hours, before arriving in Jamaica, NY (not far from its final destination), but then for reasons unknown, was sent to Newark, NJ. There is has now sat for almost two days.  Meanwhile, the second package that was within my grasp, is back at the local destination distribution station, waiting for the master to arrive.  Stupid.  I've generally been impressed with FedEx international shipping, but this instance has been nothing short of a disaster.

In any event, first world problems, I know, but still super disappointing. Thanks for letting me complain.

Meanwhile...I'm still trying to pick out my seat for the rig.

I'm considering the following:

A JEGS GS-1 Highback

A JEGS Aluminum Racing Seat

A SPARCO R100

The seat that comes with the Next Level Racing Boeing Edition Cockpit. This would require some modification to mount, I'm told

That Aluminum Racing Seat does not look any where near comfortable... :nono2:

You're supposed to put a padded insert into it. The aluminum chair is just the bucket.

If the Wife is still going to kill you. I'd pick the one you would most liked to be buried in. Go out in style.  :tophat:

Almost finished with the base assembly. Once finished, I will mount the seat only, before calibrating, balancing and testing. Then I can start adding peripherals.

Same! -- and then amusing myself with the thought of using that rig to play epic sea and American Civil War battles.  :Nerd:

Yeah, I bet it would make getting my ass lit-up by some AI pilot in IL-2 Stormovik much more enjoyable. Maybe even fun.  :planepilot:

Will you wear the Roman helmet or the VC rice paddy hat on the maiden flight?

That'd be cute. JH, How hard is that thing to get in and out of? I'm afraid if I got in it, I'd never be able to get back out of it.
