Elite: Dangerous. I broke down.

I updated and ran everything fine last night. However, within about 10 minutes, I got kicked to the main menu due to a lost connection with the server. This was in solo mode. Annoying  right?

This is pretty disturbing news.  I was kind of assuming that, like Rise of Flight or Battle of Stalingrad, you'd only have to login to play Elite solo. The idea that momentarily losing a server connection kicks you out of the game really sucks.

Yep, with Elite you're always playing on the server, even if you're just doing it alone.  This is where a lot of the flak from no offline mode came from. 

I found the game essentially unplayable for a time after the second to last Gamma release because of disconnect issues.  Haven't had any issues since then though.

Every freakin night I go to go on this, there's an update that won't update and when it does, I can't get on the game. So my current playing situation is upgrade, try and play, reboot multiple times, leave it, fire it up in the morning and it works, switch it off, go to work, get home, upgrade, try and play.....

This is me for the third bloody night

I think this is the only time I've ever wished a game stayed in BETA.

What's really REALLY frustrating is I have NO IDEA what's wrong and the ED Forums are so full of issues my post slipped to page 3! So they're obviously fighting fire.

Given the update issues, I've got to suspect this is a connection problem. I was able to play the game this morning - when the web and connections would be minimal. Game update issues too...it HAS to be connection related...but I've got nothing and zero help from ED

Typical MMO release issues.  Gonna sit it out awhile and save some frustration.

I downloaded during the late Gamma but am waiting the launch out as well. The one time I tried to play all I managed to do was repeatedly crash, so I imagine trying to learn to fly during the madness of an MMO launch won't do much but frustrate me. Come January I'll give it a spin.

Download took About 45 minutes. I fired it up and it seems to work ok. I have to re-bins some controls and such but that's it. Not sure how much time I want to spend flying around at this point...I don't need frustration

I survived an interdiction, discovered a few solar systems, and generally had more fun than I've had in a space game since Starfleet Academy.  Wow...

I still haven't finished the tutorials.  I just don't feel like sitting down and taking the time it's going to require to properly set up the HOTAS controls right now.  Maybe over the weekend.

Wacky how varied the experience is.  I have had just as much, and honestly more stability than in any prior release.

Got about 80k in bounties tonight without trouble, most NPC's but a few players that found themselves on the wrong side of the law.   C:-)

I do wish this was working great for everyone though.   I've been through some very rough MMO launches, and this does not resemble those, at least for me.
