I've seen short small sales for it in the past year.
Dunno if it'll get marked down when during movie hype period. May have to wait for a few months..
CSI has it on sale right now. $64.99

sounds awesome, i hope to induct junior into the star wars universe when the time is right
What's with the "150 figures"? Is that the contents of Rebellion 'cos I haven't looked in detail at the contents...there didn't seem to be that many in the pictures I saw

Think so.
There are quite a few in it.
So many fancy components.. the reason it's suggested retail was $99.
oh yeah
Quote
Game contents includes:
•1 game board (split in 2 halves)
•170 plastic miniatures
•25 leaders (with stands)
•10 custom dice
•Over 170 cards
•1 Learn to Play Booklet
•1 Rules Reference
Quote
I never looked at the details - I just knew I wanted a Star Wars game and this was the latest one (and the scale I think she may be interested in)
Maybe I'll go through the other board games with her - check before I buy - see what one she's more interested in
You're a retailers wet dream JD
I didn't even look - I just bought it
I know :-\
I've done some surface scratching and to be honest it was off the radar because it was £70. However, after going to see Rogue One, I managed to get Cathryn (who said I shouldn't buy it previously because of the price - she's my "little Angel" on my shoulder) to join forcesl.
Now I've got the "all clear" - as the kids on board, the wife has little to no say L:-) - I can look at the options and some detailed reviews. Rebellion seems to score highly at Board Game Geek (is that yours by the way).
It may not be Rebellion...she or I may prefer one of the other ones - but from my skimming around, it seems Rebellion is a good game...so it's very likely going to be that one.

My son is 13
We haven't played Rebellion yet
Dr Sterrett's son is 10 or 11 or so (a little younger than mine) and enjoyed the game quite a bit

It wasn't him then - it must have been Mr Sterrett because the guy that was talking said him and his son played Rebellion and had 3 sessions over a long weekend which made them both *think* about how they played.

I sure wish that I gave a big flying F about the Star Wars universe, as it sounds like I'd love this game. Is it anything like the old AH board game Freedom in the Galaxy?

It's inspired by the old PC game
Star Wars: Rebellion, from what I understand.
Was named something different overseas.
JD you're going to love this game and yes it's got about 150+ pieces in it to play with.
I saw Rogue One with my daughter as well and we both liked it. As a jaded old Star Wars nerd I thought for sure I'd be disappointed. I've read the Han Solo Trilogy which does touch on the mission to steal the death star plans and was fully expecting to be enraged by Rogue One's perceived deviation from canon. I was pleasantly surprised that the movie, while yes straying a bit from traditional lore, kept the gist of the story enough to please me.

I'm assuming you are referring to the Han Solo Trilogy. Basically Han falls in love with a slave girl and sets her free. He finds this girl on a planet that produces spice and is owned by a drug cartel. When he sets her free she tells him she doesn't love him and must leave never to see him again. He's totally dumbfounded and hurt. The girl is actually a rebel agent posing as a slave to get inside information through being part of the drug trade. She's forced to go along with Han's knight in shining armor rescuing the slave girl so her cover doesn't blow. Once she leaves Han, and I don't remember this part clearly, she somehow begins the mission with the information she got through being a slave/spy.
Damn. Seems like my daughter might not be on my side afterall...having found out the game is £70. She's very cautious with money - much like her mother. A very good trait to have - but not when I want a game.
We have the money. There are no concerns over that - but it's abhorrent to her to pay that for a board game. If I was to buy, I'd struggle to get her to enjoy it.
We'll see. :(
Those are admirable traits to have but I understand what you mean. Tell her sometimes in life it's ok to splurge and enjoy oneself. :)
Figure out the £/hr of play you'll get out of it and compare that to going to the movie theater
(Do I post the picture of my shrink-wrapped copy what Santa left for me? No, that would be wrong.)
Seriously, Brant is completely on point. If it's as good as everyone says -- and I believe it is -- it you play a $65 for, say 80 hours, how is that not a good expenditure of recreational dollars? It's only ADHD gamers like me that wind up losing out...and are happy doing so.
Good points. It costs us £30 to go to the cinema. Hell...we spent about £150 on 5 trips to see The Winter Soldier alone...and that was just the tickets...add food AND the Blu-ray!!
JD ...into consideration you also may take (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi63.tinypic.com%2F2exoq4z.gif&hash=02dd672667d323a4f030ecb7912ea9e2d736d124)
nice things about Rebellion over at BGG I have read, but solitaire mode included there is not!
i sense a greater part of the enjoyment you are daring for is to play it with/against your daughter. Not getting the game might be (a message from her subconscious) that the mood for Star Wars is already fading away and will be replayed with a new topic of interest soon ...(its a women, after all / moodswings) and so she might play it reluctant once (only to please her dad) and then never simply 'find the time' for setting it up again...
so you might consider to give yourself a belated Xmas treat and get that super expensive Falkland game you always wanted so bad instead! ...and enjoy some other father-daughter-activity that she really will enjoy like a movie to cover that part to feel in balance with the force
MikeGER - that is a fantastic idea O0
So for Christmas, Santa brings me "Rebellion", "Captain Sonar", DC Games' "Leipzig", DVG's "Killshot", and three Steam gift cards.
What am I playing for hours upon end?
Borderlands 2 co-op with my son.
He's obsessed with his gunzerker.
The digital equivalent of playing with the box.
I have Rebellion, myself...I've had the damn thing since March or so. I bought it just before my job went into maximum overdrive...it's still sitting on my shelf IN THE WRAP. :)
I've been wanting to get it out and do an unboxing video. I've actually gotten quite a few board games to the table this week. I hope to do something more tomorrow, maybe a how to play on both WWII Warfighter and U-Boat Leader, and had hoped to do Rebellion unboxing as well. The week is not half over but tomorrow late afternoon/evening we're going to the K-State/A&M bowl game and then Thursday we'll be out of town for the day, but there's more to be done game-wise through the weekend.
You'd probably get a lot of mileage with that game, JD, but if you ever get bored and want to try an over-the-ocean competition, maybe we can set up our boards and pass turns back and forth through images/this board.

Balls - curse village living and hating humanity
Hating humanity does make finding boardgame opponents problematic.
I see a bright future for 'boardgame club for people who hate people'!
Individual booths so there's no eye contact, headphones to blank out their whiny voices and Irish whisky on hand
I'd be up for trying a PBEM game if you are, Geek. Previous attempts at playing via Tabletop Simulator flopped so maybe VASSAL is the way to go.
I don't have the game right now - it's playability without face to face is integral to purchase decision
It's very playable in real time via Tabletop as I'm or VASSAL and Teamspeak. I suspect PBEM would bog down during combat due to the combo of dice rolling and hidden card play. You can download the rules from FFG and give them a once over to see if it appeals.

Pulled out my old collection of Star Wars Miniature Battles figs over the weekend for that purpose.
Not the best storage solution. They're currently divided into 4 of those inexpensive plastic shoe bins w/ lids. With about 200-300 of them, it will take extra time finding specific ones.
Thought about sorting them all out on the table, and taking a pic to remember which I have. But that would take a LOT of time. :-\
