I'm considering buying it, but I have some concerns about the number of active players and servers.

I've been watching a lot of Youtube vids lately (Tutorials and let's play). What worries me is that the vast majority of these are 2+ years old.

Anybody playing this game?
Should I stay away from it?

Hi Attila,

Good question, I have the game but not installed.  Let me install it and get back to you about number of servers.  I didn't like the game compared to at the time vs battlefield 4 and 5 but that's my opinion.  I would only buy if on sale.

I am downloading now and did a search that does show the status of the severs.

It's a 17gb download.
I have seen this game in the past go for under $ 10.00  Check some of the other game sited like fanatical.com and humblebundle.com

Dammit Carl!

Big RS/RO fan here, so there will be some bias on my part.

Certainly get it on sale.  As far as popularity, it depends a good deal on time of day and when in week.  There usually seems to be a half dozen or so servers that run at max capacity a good deal of the time, so it's still being played for sure.

Whereas RO2 did have bots, RS2 technically does not - there is a command line function that creates bots for maps, but I think it only covers some of the maps and I've no idea of bot A.I. quality.

The company that created RS2 was bought out some months back, so that very well may mean no more updates.  Could be wrong about this, so check the forums and whatnot.

The DLC in the Steam store is purely cosmetic crap and doesn't do anything except pretty up your virtual G.I. Joe.  Having said that, I'm a sucker for my cool looking G.I. Joe and have nearl everything available.  Again, though, bought on sale.

Trooperc7

Its a good First person shooter. It is still being played though not as many as before. If you can grab it on sale it is worth having!

I just loaded the game up and it looks like 5-7 full servers and a few others with low amount of players.

Hi guys

Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

@demjansk1942
Thanks for taking the time to look into the game and for the links.

I found it on sale over at humblebundle. 9.23 Euro for the Digital Deluxe Edition.
I think that's fair.

Again, Thank you guys.

That's a good deal, even if you get a good 20-50 hours on it, better than a movie rental or ballgame that you can't attend.

It isn't a bad shooter, I put about 40 hours into it a year or so ago but have moved on to other games, lately Hell Let Loose.
It has the usual drawback of team based games, if you get a good team it can be fun, but if you get a team full of people worried more about their K/D ratio than playing the objectives it will suck.
