Any Grogs with family or friends in the area? (I know someone who knows a lot of people there, don't know if any of her friends were caught by the bombs yet...)

Hopefully all other Grogs and their families are safe and sound.  Sounds like its going to be a long rest of day/night while the details of this massacre come out.

Terrible 2 people have lost their lives, plus reporting loss of limbs among survivors. Whoever did this should expect no mercy and I expect an eye for an eye retribution, that is all arseholes like this will understand.

Was working at the office North of Boston so wasn't caught up in any of it.  My wife is an anaesthesiologist at Mass Gen Hosp and luckily today was her assigned day off.  The hospital so far has not issued a mass casualty event which would necessitate her going in but they have put the hospital on lock down which means that all the medical staff currently at the hospital there will have to stay until the situation is organized.  Due to the large event that was taking place they would already have had additional capacity in terms of medical people covering extra shifts than you would see on a normal routine Monday.

She told me that tomorrow is actually going to be the worst day as right now it will be the very critical who get attention but tomorrow all those with lacerations and injuries that are not life threatening will be requiring surgery.  Probably means that she will be working 12+ hours tomorrow and that they will be calling in all the ancillary support staff that they can get to help as well (it take a large team to do surgery, X-Ray, labs, scrub techs, circulating nurses, calibration techs, specialist surgeons etc).

A real shitty way for Boston to make the news we can only be thankful that with so many people in the immediate area that the casualties were not even higher.

Hey guys,

I live in downtown Boston but thankfully the other side of it. The city is a mess now. I hear helicopters and sirens pretty much constantly. They're shutting down exits on the mass pike which is the main artery out west of the city - just drove past them on the way to pick up my wife because public trans is basically non-functional. The subways are shut down for a lot of the stops so the city is pretty much paralyzed.

I can't get a cell phone call to connect as the lines are totally slammed with people trying to call each other. I don't know the exact site of the explosions but my office is VERY close to the finish line of the marathon. The marathon store that local news said had their windows blown out is less than a block away. I walk by it every day on the the way to work. It's likely my office is closed for at least tomorrow I heard from my CEO.

I had two friends right near the explosions, one saw them, one felt them (concussion only, thankfully) Too close to home...

People seem pretty calm for the time being but I can't help but feel on edge. Just laying low in my apartment waiting for EOD to do their thing...

He's a person of interest only at this time.  Reported that he has burns.
