Excellent AAR. I have Red Poppies coming as well, and am really looking forward to playing them both now that I have an overview of the basic system.

I have the new version of Red Poppies on order also. After I get it if there is a VASSAL mod - or I will create one - maybe we can do a PBEM game?
Also this system once I finish tweaking the mod.

Absolutely! Red Poppies arrived here yesterday. I'm reading rules now and will play with it some tomorrow. I'm really quite impressed with what I'm seeing so far.

Did you see that there's an Asian Theatre battle pack coming out for ITT next week?

I have downloaded the living rules from their site and will start reviewing it also. The counter/map graphics look great compared to the original version of the game. Hope to get/create a VASSAL mod ASAP.

Did not know about the Asian pack for ITT - great news. They are moving quickly repackaging the original mods.

FYI - I started posting this AAR on the game's BGG site and the Developer (John Gorkowski) responded and pointed out some rules and scenario errors I made:

1. Platoons activated as a Formation incur a 1/3 Movement Factor penalty before moving representing the coordination overhead of moving together. So a Marine Company/Formation activated together has 3MP - 1MP (1/3 of 3 MF) = 2 MPs. If a Formation/Company is trying to cover alot of ground a decision has to be made on keeping them together/less activations but slower versus moving each Platoon its max movement one at a time and 1 activation at a time.

2. I missed that there were 2 more Marine Companies (C & D) that start the scenario on hexrow A/the 'west' edge of the map. This increases the Marines chances of overrunning the hill.

Here is the link - things start changing at turn 2:

I read that on BGG yesterday! Definitely makes a difference to have twice as many troops.

I'm going to read your AAR again now that I have some familiarity with the Red Poppies rules to see how they compare.

As of today there's a Vassal module for Red Poppies Campaigns! I thought I'd check and there it was...

Great - I will review the living rules and the module and hopefully we can kick something off by this weekend - and I will get my hard copy game :)

Looks like I have some work to get it into the module - good times.

Still waiting on Red Poppies to get here.
