What are the guidelines for nominations? Next War: India-Pakistan is technically a 2015 release, but it only started shipping on 12/14.
it's 2015. It's like The Revenant - got released in '15, it's a '15er for awards purposes...

Yeah, but the Academy hands out awards in February...
Kinda puts a damper on things when they're released so late in '15 that almost nobody has played them until '16.

Yeah, Brant's correct. This happened to one of the Combat Mision titles several years ago. They had the misfortune to release it on something like December 28th. It may have picked up the Kwanzaa voters but missed the Hanukkah/Christmas crowd. As a result, despite being a fantastic game, it simply failed to move the needle because it arrived too late for it to build a successful base.
That's probably the biggest problem with a reader-driven poll: not enough people may get behind a game. But that's also its strength - a game that builds a huge following may blow through "professional" writers' opinions and get a huge response where the "pros" may have panned it.
Game publishers/devs know this. It's a risk they take.
You'd think devs would pay more attention to the Grogheads Readers Choice Awards voting when releasing their games.
Best reprint - Mexica
Operation Dauntless - GMT Games
Best Family Game - Quadropolis
My son is going to nominate LNLP's "Hollow Cell" for whatever category it ends up in :)
RPG = Call of Cthulhu 7th edition.
Card Game/Tabletop = Munchkin Marvel
MBT - GMT Games
Old School Tactical - Flying Pig Games.
I haven't played anything from 2016...
Me either. A bunch of new games but not one that was released in 2016.
Best reprint - Mare Nostrum : Empires
Yeah, the only downside to it is that the quality of the map printing is not great. Otherwise, great package, lots of chrome, lots of tactical choices to make.
Hmm. I'll have to check my map. I don't recall it being subpar, but I may have beem too focused on processing the rules ;)
Yeah, it's a nitpick I know. :P I didn't like how the seams were already showing noticeable damage when it was brand new. Down to the quality of paper I guess, and seeing that after being pretty impressed by the rest of the contents.
Yeah. The reference material is amazing.
Best New Game - Terraforming Mars
Best New Game - Cry Havoc
Best Reprint - 51st State Master Set
I've only played one game released in 2016. Evolution: Climate. Its good, but I don't think its game of the year material. I really need to get more up to date on my game collection. :P
Can't quite decide if it's a reprint (which it is) or a totally new game (which, in a measure, it is) but:
BEST REPRINT: "Silver Bayonet, 25th Anniversary Edition": GMT
BEST GAME: "Falling Skies": GMT
Wing Leader: Supremacy 1943-1945 - GMT

No, but if it doesn't get nominated now it could end up missing the cutoff. And I am confident it deserves to be nominated.

Silver Bayonet gets my vote with Op Dauntless a close second.
Balkan Gambit: DG
Binh Dinh '69: One Small Step
If technically-a-reprints are allowed (especially if they are massive graphic and systemic upgrades), then:
The Scheldt Campaign: Hollandspiele
Algeria: One Small Step
War Plan Crimson: Tiny Battle Publishing
Brian
We usually get enough reprint / re-release nominations for a reprint category
Best new game:
Hands in the Sea - Knightworks
Festung Europa - Compass Games
Captain Sonar

Note that you will need a Google acc't to vote this time around, since we're using Google Forms for the survey.
Being extorted by SurveyMonkey last year was a pretty painful experience for us.
