Post by: glint on July 31, 2016, 04:56:54 AM
Hello Gentlemen,
I would like to introduce you to the Wargamers Club for Gentlemen.
At the WGCG, we support many games with club ladders for the
guys who wish to compete against other players and have a record
of their games played.
Amongst the games supported are Squad Battles, Combat Mission,
Matrix JTCS/CSME, John Tiller's Panzer Battles, Steel Panthers and
Vassal GAMES.
Please take the time to check it out and join in the fun. We have been
running succesfully for the past four years now. -

I would hazard a guess that the mention of the word "Gentlemen" caused several of the forum members here not to take you up on your polite and considerate invitation. ;)

Of course, if he just reordered the words in his post to advertise as it "A Gentlemen's Club for Wargamers", he might have drawn a significantly different portion of the poster base here out!

Lewd puns aside, it's a thoughtful post, and one that deserves exploration from anybody looking for an expanded PvP experience...   :)

I haven't been active with the club for a while, but I did have a great playing CMx2 with the guys a few years ago.

I've been with them the whole time, a great base of folks to PBEM, they have Vassal and all that as well. Never have too much PBEM, ....well, you can, but I won't admit it!!

I recently learned that Glint, also known as Peter Jeavons, the founder of the WCFG, passed away a couple months ago.

Been a really bad several months for our hobby.

RIP, Peter.

I had a few interactions with Peter over the past year.  He was always a gentleman.  He will be missed.  RIP. :(

That is sad to hear. The world needs more Wargamers, not fewer.
