No gaming for me until Sunday as we are renting our house out for West Point graduation. Once Sunday comes I hope to start my Nabatea campaign in Rome 2 TW and a campaign of Domina. And of course there will be more Field of Glory 2, I'm sure, because I just can't stop. Everyone in the US have a good holiday weekend...mine starts 8pm tonight. BEER ME

A very appropriate song for the thread, and a good song as well....nice pick bbmike!  Was getting into a Stellaris campaign when the new upgrade disabled all my mods.  Not sure what I'm going to play.  :-[

I'm having a friend over on Saturday.  He wants to play Crusader Rex, or if he brings his son, Axis & Allies D-Day as a commemoration to Memorial Day.

Sunday we're having another friend and his wife over.  We'll probably play something like Ticket to Ride.

Besides this fun, this is a four-day weekend for me and I'm really looking forward to it.   <:-)

@bbmike - Good song! ... like Rayfer says very appropriate.

So far I've been playing some more Stars in Shadow with the Tinker DLC. I've still playing the Gremak after giving up on a previous game, as I was royally shafted by the Ashdar, and would you believe 2 pirate factions! :knuppel2:

Alan Parsons is one of my al time favourite musical artists.

Very exhausting and rewarding week so far. Backyard, gardens, and pool all set for summer. But man it's hard work doing hardworking all day... can't wait to go back to actual work and relax a bit... #:-)
Still more to do tomorrow, then it's supposed to rain all weekend.

Been squeezing in some Stellaris with the new stuff.. good so far.

Got a LnLT game setup with SDR for Saturday.

Have a great holiday weekend 'Murica.  <:-)

You have a Happy Victoria Day!  :) Barth.

As for me,

I'm just in a funk. I have been playing a bit of Tales of Maj Eyal (reminds me of the old Angband days), Stellaris to see how 2.1 Niven is working out. I work Saturday (really short morning shift) and then off for the rest of the weekend including Monday.

Nice pick for song too.

Double Celebration! Holiday weekend and finally got the Daughter and Son-In-Law out of the house and into their new place.   There will be drinking and yardwork followed by drinking and gaming and after that, drinking and running nude through the house again. And drinking. I'm trying to master the mechanics of naval combat in Pillars of Eternity 2 while keeping my ship's crew happy with Fresh Fruit and Grog, the Rice Wine and Hardtack they weren't too thrilled about. Maybe there's an Island of Mc Donald's somewhere in the Deadfire. Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend Grogheads.

It's my daughter's 5th birthday this weekend, so my mom is in town for the big party. Things will be hectic so gaming will be limited. However, in downtime it will probably be Battletech, Space Hulk: Deathwing, WH40k Inquisitor: Martyr and more DCS in preparation for Hornet.

I hope everyone has a happy and meaningful Memorial Day.

Started playing Thrones of Britannia.  Easy strathclyde (StrathClut) was interesting with its antiquarian obsessions with the (Yr Hen Olgedd) "the Old north (kingdom?)"

Cloud-based software means I can work from home, and billable hours are billable hours so I see myself playing Easement Plat Generator, as well as making up two weeks of no yardwork being done(damn The Boy for not mowing).

If I get to any gaming, I think I'll keep it simple and plink away at World of Tanks or World of Warships.

Heroes of North Africa via VASSAL with Barth on Saturday.  I just finished the Battletech campaign last night so it's time to fire up something new.  I booted up War in the Pacific and began the Guadalcanal scenario but the UI remains as obtuse as ever.  Not sure if I want to once again try to figure out just how the bell transport/amphib assaults work because I never could in the past.

Continue the app driven Descent 2nd ed co-op campaign on Saturday. (Got to paint 3 morecminis for that today.)

I have no idea.

Holiday weekend with no kids sports and weather may be shite.

Options on the table are monster hunter world, HoI4, Stellaris, Pillars of Eternity, Witcher 3, War in the West / Pacific

Would also like to do some tabletop gaming with the kiddies, typically Ticket to Ride or Carcassone.

Off today so starting a 4 day weekend. There will be yard work and putting up the pool for the season. Might do some back yard camping with my daughter, get the gear and do the whole nine yards, stove, fire pit and all that....if the weather holds.

Gaming wise there will be some PBEM turns
Order of Battle- just started
TOAW4- Guns of August....i'm never going to make it to Paris in 20 turns :( , turn 15 coming up and im not even close.
FOG2- Battle of Alesia coming to a close, Romans 49% routed, Gauls 57% routed, of course he's been at 57% for damn near 3 turns as my percentage rises. I hold Alesia.

For single player i've jumped back into Darkest Dungeon, man this is one of my favorite games. Also will be playing Space Hulk Deathwing enhanced edition, looks and plays great.

have a good weekend everyone.

Probably some Star Traders Frontiers which is only the 4th game I've ever bought on early access and it looks interesting from a very brief initial impression, also may do some CK II which I haven't played in ages as I've recently picked up Reaper's Due and Monks ans Mystics DLC and I'll probably continue my Master of Orion Darlock campaign.

I'll be spending most of my gaming time this weekend split between flying the just released QualityWings 787 for Prepar3d v4 and Cities Skylines with the new Parklife DLC. There will also be some more Battletech as well.

I played Heroes of North Africa via VASSAL with Barth this morning.  The scenario took place in Sudan and saw a detachment of British colonial infantry trying to defend a small village from an attack by Italian light armour and infantry.  I played as the Brits and Barth took the Italians.  It was a complete massacre.  Barth managed to kill every Brit unit on the map and even took out their barbed wire for good measure.  I felt violated...

In the evening, my gaming group met up to continue our co-op Descent 2 campaign.  We finished off a side quest without much trouble but we used up too much time and couldn't get back to town to upgrade gear before we had to tackle the main quest.  We suffered a total party kill before even reaching the main boss.  Not a good day out and this was just the tutorial campaign.  Still lots of fun though.

Didn't have much gaming time.

Spend some time setting up this low cost TrackIR head tracking alternative (Delan Clip http://www.delanengineering.com/shop/#!/DelanClip-Gamer/p/43397050/category=0) and testing it in DCS.
I must say I'm very pleased with the results but I still need to do a little finetuning.

So we rented our house to a family for West Point graduation and they were less than upfront - they had like 30 people staying at our house - not 8 - drained our well, and f'cked up our septic line. So tomorrow I will be playing 'rent an industrial snake' and unplug my sewer line with a neighbor. Last time we rent for graduation. 😒

It's better than Frosted Flakes... GRRREAT!  Ok, as good as FF. Very long game if you do all the quests but worth it as the loot is epic. The DLC's have to be done BEFORE you finish the game. Very many choices at Character Creation and Level Up's so give your self a lot of time when you do. Beautiful game-- look at everything as you wander through this world. The game throws a lot of info at you from the start but don't get intimated by this, just play and enjoy.

The clip should work fine as a replacement for the TIR one - it's just the *same* configuration of IRLEDs.  Using it with FaceTrackNoIR or Freetrack and a webcam will take a bit of fiddling, but is eminently doable.

^ What he said.

Plus, I think the best character for your avatar in the game is either a cleric or a ranger.  You get a very good fighter and a Magic User very early.  You can pick up a cleric a little later.  Ranger is middle to late in the game.

You need to have someone specialize in athletics and another in mechanics (lockpicking).  Survival is less important.  Lore give you the ability to use scrolls - higher the lore the higher the level of scroll.  You can also retrain someone from level 1 in bars as long as you have the cash.  You need only one in mechanics, one in survival, and one in athletics.  The rest can specialize in lore and use scrolls.

I discovered that by increasing my anti aliasing in squad, I've taken pressure off my cpu. It's now prettier and runs way better. So obscene amounts of that. Also playing steel division since it's been staring at me for way too long.

I got fired from a basic shelf stacking job that I was working at for two weeks. They saw the ravine on my arm and spazzdd out, saying I neglected to inform them of my injury. Like?..ho...I've been putting up massive bags of dog food without trouble. Its basically cosmetic now. So...self esteem just died hard.

Food front. Got some fermented black beans, made basic beef and black bean but it was way too rich. Hainanese glass noodle stir fry tomorrow. After that Kao soi, green papaya salad and when I get my meat probe in gonna smoke a leg of lamb

I bought the 'gamer edition' (+/- 45 €) and this includes a modified PS3 cam.  From unboxing to testing took me less than an hour.
I'm not the most handy guy, so if I can do it most people should have no problems with it.  (the instructions on their site are specifically for this PS3 camera so that speeds things up)

I spent the quiet parts of the day yesterday learning the intricacies of the 'Ancient Empires' mod for Attila. Damn what a mountain of new choices are available all over! I spent 30 min. just trying to decide what building to build for one city.  :o  You can literally make a region into almost anything you want--custom design it to whatever works best. This is like 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' if there were about a dozen of each type.   I just hope the AI can handle all the choices competently.

^Would you recommend trying out AE instead of Rome 2? I was going to wait for AE to be updated and maybe give Nabatea some victory conditions but if peeps are enjoying it then I should probably just dive in, damn the torpedoes...all that.
Title: Re: Games People Play on Friday!
Post by: Sir Slash on May 29, 2018, 11:26:19 AM
True, it's not finished yet, so.....  Still I'm amazed at that the Attila engine could be used to create almost an entirely new game. I can see how some would not like the more complex nature and kind of slow start to this mod. So far this is a VERY different TW experience-- much more strategic in nature.

But do you like it?
Title: Re: Games People Play on Friday!
Post by: Sir Slash on May 29, 2018, 02:04:45 PM
Like what?   ;D     Yes, so far I'm liking it. Rome 2 might be more fun at the start-- hard to blitz in AE, you have to plan more and most garrisons are large. I only just began playing yesterday and haven't even had one battle yet but I'm intrigued by it's deepness. If Rome 2 was Checkers, this mod would be Chess. So, depends on what you like.

Title: Re: Games People Play on Friday!
Post by: Sir Slash on May 29, 2018, 03:30:54 PM
I tried Egypt-- thought it was too big to begin with, then Cappadocia-- starving at the beginning, Parthia-- better but all the way at the end of the world and I couldn't declare war on Bactria for some reason, so Nabatea. Which is nice, slow and stable, to study the mod. Probably I'll go back to Egypt when I get more comfortable with the changes. And Rome when I want to really get into it deep. The Barbarians should be fun when they come along.

Title: Re: Games People Play on Friday!
Post by: Sir Slash on May 30, 2018, 10:23:28 AM
Well there is that. But I'm just trying to learn how all the pieces fit together. Nabatea will be fixed later I'm sure. It is a good starter for trying out what you think works and don't work. And even unfinished it's still fun to play. Besides, winning is over rated anyway. ;D
