Title: Root a Kindle
Post by: bayonetbrant on July 21, 2017, 09:16:49 PM
Hey guys - I'm looking to root a Kindle HD6 and reinstall a base Android OS on it, and then start re-installing my apps from the Google Play store rather than the captive Kindle options.

I can find all sorts of explanations online, but does anyone have a particular process they prefer or trust more than the others?

background -
I've got a new HD7 that just came in (long story, I got it for $20) so I'm looking to convert the old one to a base Android tablet.

Thanks

If you would have got a Nook, you could install apps from Google Play store.  Another reason Kindle sucks.   >:D

I've had both a Nook and a Kindle, and much prefer the Kindle. Maybe the Nook has gotten better over the years, though.

If I had gotten a Nook, I would've paid for it myself, since the first one was a gift, and the second a $20 replacement when the gift stopped working.
