Just watched this fan film continuing the original five year mission. A followup to an original series episode with the original guest star back in the same role.
James Doohan's son plays Scotty while Grant from "Mythbusters" plays Sulu.
I think it has the 'feel' of the original series down pat with good special effects and good acting.
As an original crew Star Trek fan, I'm mightily impressed.

Fascinating. Thanks for the link WW!
That's probably the best ST fan production I've seen. Very good FX and production values. And the acting is way above average for a fan work. Scotty and Kirk are spot on. The guys playing Spock and McCoy aren't quite there.
I've tried to get into New Voyages/Phase II. The folks behind in clearly put a ton of work into and the attention to detail is excellent. However the episodes never really hold my interest. It's worth checking out though as it's one of the better fan efforts. Many of the episodes include cast members from the original series (for better or worse).

I checked out ST:NV before, mirth. But didn't really put the time to watch the episodes. I'll have to now.
Thanks for the reminder.
There's a second episode of Star Trek Continues available. Worth watching for a couple of the guest stars alone.

I was extremely impressed by the quality of these, including the writing and acting. They actually made me second guess my decision to pay J.J. Abrams money via visits to my local theatre and subsidizing the reboot.
Thanks for the heads-up, mirth. I'll definitely have to watch this new episode.
Good interview with Vic Mignona who plays Kirk and this driving force behind Star Trek Continues

My interest was mediocre until I read Vic Mignogna. That guy's an awesome voice actor. I will never not-love his portrayal of Seijuro Hiko in the English dub of
Rurouni Kenshin. "Well, I see my stupid apprentice has finally come back!" "A man of my genius could turn his mind to anything, so why not pottery? {teeth glint}"
Edited to correct: ack, wrong guy. :( Somehow I got Vic mixed up with Richard Epcar. Vic's great, too, but he hasn't played Richard's roles obviously.
Episodes 3 &4 are available. Episode 4 has Colin Baker (6th Doctor Who).

Nice! Thanks for posting. This is as close to my Trek as I can get these days!
It's a really well done homage to TOS. I've been enjoying them a great deal.
Nice article on Star Trek: New Voyages

^I'm a few episodes behind on that. :(
I was too. Watched a couple today. It's retro fun.
Mirror, Mirror is on H&I right now
