Hey, guys, looking for a new anti virus/malware/protection software.  Any recommendations?
There was, somewhere on the forums, a thread with info about free programs, but cannot locate that either.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Had Norton, and it's not really satisfying at some level.  Like to find something else.

Regardless of how good a PC game may be it will always have its detractors and no matter how bad a PC game may be it will always have its fans.

We've been using AVG AV and AVG system tune up for quite a few years. Seems to do the job fine and can't recall ever having any bother with it.

+1 for AVG. I use it for my AV and ZoneAlarm for my firewall.

Thanks everyone.  I'll take a look at AVG.  Consumer Reports suggests Avast is the best, so will try and compare them.

Comodo is a good product as well, and it's free to boot. I had an IT guy I trust recommend it highly to me.

Avast is pretty good too.  However, I found it to be significantly more...obtrusive.  I initially had Avast installed on both halves of my computer, and it was constantly nagging me:  To run a scan, to check for (and download) updates, to fork over umpteen dollars to acquire their "premium" version, etc.  It was damn irritating, and I switched back to AVG after only a couple months.

Avast seems to have recently upped the annoyance ante and I'm getting a little tired of it but on the other hand with Avast and Spybot I have had no problems in many, many years.

Well, this one I do. He runs his own company in New York and does a lot of troubleshooting. He's helped me out of numerous jams.

Russian pr0n will get ya every time.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

It was Romanian pron, dammit. I prefer my nekkid Slavic babes with some duskiness to them.
