I see significant price difference just because of the GPU.

I would like to know if the powerful gtx 780 is worth it.
Or getting a last Gen GTX680 is good enough.

I'm actually used to mid range ones. My current GPU is an old GTX 460. I believe both cards above exceed the performance of my current one. A gtx 760 is less capable than last Gen gtx 680.

Will mostly use for MS FSX and P3D

the gtx 770 is essentially the 680 which is a great card, but I'm pretty sure the 770 is cheaper.

Thanks so u suggest 770.  Will check that out. So depends on which is cheaper.

Here's a good breakdown of graphics cards.  http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

I'm sure others will have their own opinions, but I tend to think the additional $ for the top end card doesn't always translate into a noticeable different performance.  And frankly if you are upgrading several generations of cards, which you are, any card designed for gaming performance will be an upgrade.

Special K has too much class.

I just recently went through the same pro vs con for graphics cards and the Toms Hardware article convinced me to go with the GTX 770 as the best one for me.

Here is the one I bought from New Egg
