Pretty hot in Philly, too. Just ran some errands.

Seems like Earth has about one or two generations left before it's totally cooked and unlivable.  Oh well, humanity had a good run I guess.

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Lightning just struck about 200 feet away from my house...so close I could hear it sizzle while standing on my porch

The Heat Index here in Fla, tomorrow will be 107. It was up to 111 over the weekend. Now I can cook burgers on the grill, not in the grill...on it.

While the winters in Wisconsin suck, the summers are nice.  The high today is 82.  However, with all the rain we've gotten the mosquitos have become viscous.

Summer in my part of British Columbia has been unusually cold and wet this year.  It wasn't until this week that temps got above 30'C.  People really do have the memories of goldfish.  Two weeks ago, everyone was bitching about how "there's no summer this year" or "Feels like October".   4 hot days in a row and they're all moaning about the heat and babbling about climate change.  The forecast says our 5 day mini heat wave is already done and we're going right into seasonal norms of 26-28'C for the next week or more.

Yeah, how stupid of me not to account for the weather where you live!  Clearly I'm an idiot for listening to what climate scientists have been telling us for years.

It's been stupidly hot in California on and off for months now, well before typical summer season.  This heat wave is just the worst of it and factually speaking one of the hottest summers in years.  The ecology is objectively being devastated, but why worry about that when it's been cold and wet in SilentDisapprovalRobot's neighborhood?

Enjoy it, because it might just be the coolest summer of the rest of our lives.

Wasn't commenting on global weather patterns or even referencing your post so I'm not sure where your anger is coming from.

Just commenting on the fact that people love to bitch about the weather.  Last week, everyone was complaining about how cold and wet it was and how the couldn't go do summery things.  This week, it's hot and sunny and everyone's bitching about the heat and how it's too hot to go do anything.

Sorry, I assumed your "memory of goldfish" and "babbling about climate change" was directed at my comment.  My mistake.

Two weeks ago we still had evenings here in semi-upstate New York where the temperature dipped into the upper 40sF.

Yesterday it felt like 107F-109F. And I was the closest to lightning I've ever been.

'Interesting times.'
