Empire Total War as a Revolution wargame?

I have Napoleon, although I haven't played but 2 minutes of it.  I don't have Empire though.

I'd like to get some Revolutionary War gaming on.  I have the Ageod game, although I haven't played much of it, either.

How is Empire as a RW game?  Is it totally unrealistic, or does it do a decent representation of it while having lots of "flavor"?

The RW campaign acts as more of an extended tutorial.  I found it to be very "meh".

Check out the mode over at WWW.twcenter.net.  I know there is a fairly substantial and popular American Revolution mod.

Agree. The American Revolution mod is the one mod I play ETW with. It totally improves the whole game, allows almost every faction in the game to be playable, and includes it's own American Revolution campaign much better than vanilla. It uses the Darthmod as a foundation and is very similar to it, has a whole bunch of new historical units and was a breeze to download and install. It hasn't been updated in sometime though so there maybe some newer mods out there.

I really wish ETW could get fixed up quite well.  The devs left it in poor shape before jumping over to NapoleonTW.  But I like ETW's time period more.

I think DarthMod has done a great job on it, but I occasionally see some of it's own unique bugginess such as Sweden not building any armies when I play Russia.  :-[
