With T-Day almost here what are you thankful for?  I'm thankful for ...Umm..Umm.  It will come to me.

-budd-

After some tragedies of the previous couple of years, this year I'm most grateful for the health and happiness of my family. A new grandbaby boy 3 weeks ago and the fact that in the next week I'll get to see all those nearest and dearest to me. Enjoy the holiday everyone.

First world problem, or zeroeth world problem even, I know, but I'm reminded of Chesterton's quip about the benefits of civilization: I can't even find where to start when I look around. There's too much to be thankful for, and that's something to be thankful for.

Pain still hurts, but whenever I'm hurting I make a point of remembering that I'm way ahead of 80% of the people in the world today, and waaaaayyyy ahead of 99.9999999% of the people who have ever lived. It's kind of beyond human imagination. Easy to take for granted.

I'm thankful I was born in a good family, though poor for a long time (especially by today's standards). When I see how many families are screwed-up nightmares (even in both sides of my extended family), that's practically a miracle never to be taken lightly.

Beyond that I'm glad for reason, truth, love, fulfilling justice -- philosophically, and moreso religiously (like several other people here). Personal life would not only be unworthy to live without them, but impossible.

I'm thankful that Justice, for the sake of fulfilling fair-togetherness among persons, self-sacrifices not only in love for good people but in love for bad people, too. It makes all the difference in the world whether ultimate justice exists, and what ultimate justice even is.

I wish I was more just and loving. But Justice is working on that, too -- for my sake, and for the sake of other people. And I'm thankful for that. Everything will work out all right in the end.

Despite the suffering meanwhile. But Justice voluntarily suffers with us, too, every time. Even when we deserve it.

Be thankful this week by doing something good for someone else, even if it seems to be small, fulfilling love in justice for them. What seems small to you may mean a lot more to someone else.

Strength and honor, guys.

I have lots to be thankful for. Family, friends, my health such as it is, and of course my lovely Wife who has graced me with 26 years of marriage. I would add Freedom, Justice and Mercy I have been given by others and try mightily to return in kind. And the good times I have had here with like-minded Grogheads as well.

I'm thankful for the Bears Lions game kicking off early so I can watch it in the UK without having to stay up until 2am.
Most people are probably thankful they're not Bears fans...

Its hard for me to find things to be thankful for since my brother died last year. If I had to pick something to be thankful for, I guess it would be my sister-in-law, Jennifer, who gave him many years of loyal companionship and stood with him until the end, always staying positive and never letting him lose hope. I'm thankful knowing that when he passed on to the other side, he did so knowing the majesty of unconditional love.

Sir Slash

You just made me think of one more thing to be thankful for JH. The people who stood by me when I was low and got me through it. These are the times when we come to know who our REAL friends are and not just the fair-weather type. I hope you have/find some.
