More Hypothetical: About 278 BC: The Thunderbolt vs. Greeks and Gallic Cavalry

  So...historically eventually, Pyrrhus took the elephants out of Macedonian circulation, the Gauls or an assassin killed Ptolemy the Thunderbolt king of Macedonia and Antigonas defeated the Gauls and survived in his Greco-Gallic kingdom.  If we throw that all together so as to give the Thunderbolt a better chance, we get: Thunderbolt with Elephants takes on Antigonas with Gallic Cavalry in about 278 BC like this (the Thunderbolt's 15 elephants face the Antigonid right with its Greek Cavalry -- the Gallic cavalry is on the Antigonid left facing the Thunderbolt's forces on a hill):

  Here on the Antigonid right, Antigonas has advanced with some of the cavalry and they are reorganizing after having repulsed the elephants.  The Macedonians are trying to reconstruct their left (the bulge) and are marching a phalanx up in column (at top of image).
