However, a statement said that an agreement to provide the tech to one of the agencies involved - the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) - was worth more than $10m (£6.3m).
IARPA will use the engine to build what it calls "Serious Games", designed to help intelligence analysts tackle instinctual biases that might colour their findings.

Cool. Let's hope it's put to good use and not wasted like so many other well-intended computer projects.

Extremely old news.......

OK, then...so is it working well or another waste of money?

It was very sucessful:

DARPA funded the initial effort in 2005, with these funds we purchased the unreal engine 2.5. Only problem is the baseline system is still.....unreal engine 2.5. The license costs $$$$$$$$$$ but the technology keeps on changing. We adjusted a little by making it plug into VBS-2 so it keeps the tech on line.

There is a quote from some Smuck back in 2007:

As Mr. Paul Nichols, a former Marine gunnery sergeant and program manager for TCLTS in the Marine Corps has observed: "If somebody's skeptical of the idea of a video game training soldiers and Marines, I'd just tell them to come down and watch how driven and immersed they get with the program."3

^ I like the quote from the Gunnery Sergeant on the street.
"Now it is no accident all these conservatives are using time travel to teach our kids. It is the best way to fight back against the liberal version of history, or as it is sometimes known... history."

"The purpose of religion is to answer the ultimate question, are we in control or is there some greater force pulling the strings? And if the courts rule that corporations have the same religious rights that we humans do, I think we'll have our answer."
