Title: Mollwitz, April 10, 1741
Post by: MengJiao on October 24, 2022, 10:21:10 AM

Well this is the earliest battle portrayed in the Battles from the Age of Reason series -- kind of a Clash of Arms offshoot from la Bataille that I seem to prefer for some reason.  Anyway, Mollwitz was
Frederick the Great's first battle and nearly the end of his foray into Silesia.  The Austrians had outmanoeuvered him as they often did and in 1741, that was almost enough since
the Prussian cavalry was not so great and was outnumbered 4000 to 8000 at Mollwitz.  I'm using the scenario where the Prussians have a chance to deploy faster and better, but since it is me
deploying them, I'm not sure I've done much better than Frederick and co. did originally in all that blowing snow.

The Prussians are surviving so far.  There have been some big cavalry actions and some artillery fire but it's getting late and the Austrians can still make a couple of big
cavalry attacks ( those went okay, but due to leader casualties the Austrian cavalry became relatively ineffective and the game ended a little early due to a game mechanic that makes that
possible if too many initiative rolls fail -- all the Prussian leaders survived and the army was still functioning so I called it a draw -- kind of a minor win for Frederick since his army wasn't destroyed):
