This is not gaming related but I need some help from those of you who have experience with choosing workplace equipment. I need to upgrade my workplace to a new medical software suite and I will need a server and a replacement for our crappy router. The requirements are low but the router must be secure enough to protect my patient/customers' information.

For those routers capable of running two logins (secure and guest) is there any way for a guest in another office or even outside to access devices connected to the secure side or connected by ethernet (assuming the system is set up properly)?

What consumer-grade router would you guys recommend? I can't spend a fortune here.

What simple Windows desktop/bookshelf pc would you guys recommend for reliability? I don't want to build one myself for this.

Check the medical software system requirements.  Does the software need to use a dongle or other hardware DRM solution?  Any specific OS to function properly?  Any type of hardware compatibility list for the server, or can you run it on generic PCs?

No special requirements, no dongles. A small generic pc would be fine. I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend for something that may need to keep chugging along, 25x7, for a few years. I may end up turning it off at night but it will still be running from 8am to 6 or 630 pm five days a week. I'm just trying to keep it cheap but good.

It's the router I'm most concerned about as it to be secure for me to be allowed to use the wifi option to avoid drilling holes and running extra cat6 cable around the office. It also needs to be dependable. If the signal drops out a lot the software won't work on the client units.
