Last fall my wife got me a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

I now realize that I need a 4K monitor to go with it.  Current monitor is only 1920 x 1080

Question:  can I attach both the new 4K monitor and the old 1920 x 1080 to the same video card (the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti) and have the new monitor run at 4K and the old continue to run at 1920 x 1080?  In other words, is it a problem that the monitors run at different resolutions?

Thanks.

Yup!  You shouldn't have any problems.  Between the drivers and windows, it will more than likely auto detect the monitor resolutions and you will be set.

It does tax your system a bit more, but I don't think you'll have any problems on a semi modern rig and up.

You will probably want to 'extend' the desktop rather than 'duplicate' the desktop between the two monitors in your display settings. Duplicating the displays between two monitors of different resolutions can be problematic. If you're trying to have say, a game, on one monitor and something else on the other you will want to use the 'extend' option anyway.

Let us know how you get on. Have fun with that new vid card!

Be careful as that can work both ways once your wife finds out what stolypin got his wife...
