VICTORIA - A U.S. fishing boat has collided with a Canadian navy ship docked at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, near Victoria.

The B.C. Ambulance Service says six people were taken to Victoria General Hospital with minor injuries.

The collision involved the Seattle-based fishing trawler American Dynasty and the HMCS Winnipeg.

The accident appeared to leave the bow of the fishing boat embedded in the forward side of the Canadian frigate.

It's not immediately know what led to the collision.

+1 on the minor injuries.

Were there storms or something? I know accidents happen, but typically you need to be drinking and have a Russian mistress aboard the bridge to manage this kind of ineptitude.

Damn! I was imagining some little trawler, not that industrial-sized fishing boat. How the hell did they manage that? And where were the harbor tugs for a ship that size?

Even if the Canadian ship was not docked, we have an agreement that our military ships have the right of way. US or Canadian.

That definitely has to be one of those factory ships. I considered working on one while in college for a summer for the promise of $10k. But there was also the risk of losing limbs.
