The story has some resemblance with The Hunt for Red October, but this really happened in 75.
I've never heard of it before, so i thought I'd share.

Good stuff. I had heard about it before (Clancy actually references it in Hunt for Red October), but I hadn't seen the History Channel piece. Thanks!

A fascinating tale.  I knew there'd been an incident that had served as inspiration for Clancy's HFRO, but had never actually read/heard about it til now.  Thanks for sharing, Atilla!
