Oh, it appears that New Year passed here over two hours ago.

Happy New Year everyone!

I am watching TV5MONDE for background music, and some Moulin Rouge dancing shows from Versaille, France, now switched to a concert in Marrakech, Morocco.

^You could probably just look out your window to see almost the same thing at this point.

Ok that literally made me laugh out loud.   :2funny:

Worst year, evar.  And I've seen 50 of them now.

Fuck you 2020.  2021, you're going to have to try hard to suck so hard.   :knuppel2:

My wife had a good 2020.  Her ward improved.  She got a house in the mountains she has wanted for 35 years.  Could be better (theaters open, art classes running, able to travel), but still a pretty good year for her.

I agree. This is unfortunate...but not entirely a surprise.

I don't want to be surprised anymore, anyway. I can't handle anymore surprises.

"But there are no absolutes in human misery and things can always get worse"

- Cormac McCarthy, Suttree
It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.
- Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Ohio State's New Year is off to a great start so maybe there's hope.
