Guys, we are migrating the host for the site tonight. We may lose some data that is posted during the migration, so if you post something in this timeframe and it disappears, we apologize in advance.
Thanks for your patience.
Are things done? I haven't posted much today, but I haven't seen any weird timelines from looking around at posts today.
(On the other hand, this particular post "session timed out while posting" despite only typing for 20 seconds, so...)
Jason, since the time stamp on your post shows April 28, 2012, I'd say there is still work to be done...
Those two oddities might be connected, then...
If the bug shaves the same six years off my age, I'm for leaving it alone O0
You and me both, brother!
Still acting goofy tonight.
I'm testing whether logging out and relogging will reset my synch with the forum engine (or something like that).
All:
We are back up, but still working out some kinks. We thank you for your ongoing patience and for sticking with us throughout this ordeal...and believe me, it has been an ordeal.
We have my brother to thank for getting back up. He solved the problem that nobody else could.
S/F
O0 Glad to hear it!
Excellent! Many thanks for bringing the forum back up. I missed it.

Thank goodness we're back up.
I was having to actually play games instead of talking about them here :D
^ ROFL
A desperately sad state of affairs!

Yeah you said it, and my backlog of games I buy but never play had stopped growing...
Good work getting the site back up.
Just for result-reporting sake, I notice there are no advertisements right now, and no feed of the last several posts on the forum (and no feed of the last several articles on the front page).

Thanks. Can we please celebrate the "small victories" before we start worrying about what is still broke?
Hey everyone, good to see ya!
Aaaaahhhhhhhh! I was totally freaked out when I could not access the forums for a couple of days! I had no clue about what was going on and thought Grogheads had been hacked or something. It also made me realize that I had NO WAY to contact anyone at Grogheads via e-mail to inquire as to the issue. I really think there should be some sort of "contact" e-mail or something on the website main page for people encountering problems, because if you cannot get to the forums, you are dead in the water.
Solops, don't forget GH has a Facebook page as well. That's how I kept track.
I don't have an I-Phone or a facebook account, although I do have stock in Apple and Facebook via a tech fund.... a nicely performing tech fund :-)
I actually sent a panicky e-mail to Jarhead via the Matrix forums. Who knows if he will ever get it....
Thank you, JH and Brother of JH.

Solops...you can always email me at craigh@grogheads.com or legal@grogheads.com.
Sorry for the frustration. It was really stressful and upsetting for all of us.
Thank you. And well done on getting the site back up to speed.
Solops, you gotta friend some GH'ers on Steam. That's how I TCB.
Anyway, I didn't realize how much time I spend on GH until it was gone....wow, that's a lot of extra free time without GH in my life. Not happy time, mind you.

Of course! -- and returning the forum is a grand victory! :bd: I didn't even know the recent-post list was "broke". I was wondering if somehow the list had been part of the problem, or if I needed to reset something.
Thank the Good Lord the Grogs are back in 'bid-ness' again! I thought the Rapture had occurred and you'd all left me here alone. :hide:
Not to worry- you wouldn't be the only one stuck 'dirtside'...

So True! I was having withdrawal symptoms. I was forced to play Warammer II w/ the new DLC 8 to 12 hours a day for three straight days. This is my first break!
I finished War and Peace!
....or was that one of Jason's cached posts?
:o

+1 O0
...played WH40k Gladius 67 turns as Space Marines vs Orks and Necrons. ...Orks are purged, Necrons contained
(seems both AI-factions had a harsh start against the evil flora/fauna units that roams Gladius after the warp storm like me)
also planted like 400 flowering bulbs in the garden before temp is subzero - each by hand
I know how Steve McCroskey felt like.

NO ONE TOLD ME MY POSTS EARN CASH!!
{off to prepare a new tome}
Back on topic, what did the most recent error message mean? "The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later."
The site was off for some time last night (Central Standard US), due to that. Or, was this an anti-spam measure to stop people from accessing the site more than x-number of times in a given period of time?
I'd been playing so much Red Dead II that I'm starting to smell like Arthur Morgan.
Oh, wait, that's normal.
Anyway, glad we're back in business.
Pratt I have not seen that error message at all...I must not have tried to access it at the proper time.
I had that same error for about an hour last night.
I got it just a few minutes ago before coming back to try my luck again.
If someone could screenshot it when it happens, that might be helpful. Like Gus, I have not experienced it, and everything in our cPanel looks good.
Nope, I've not seen that one either.
I had it a few times last night. There's not much to see, just black text on a white background starting in the upper left.
"The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later." (without quotes)
I'll try a screenie if it happens again in case the URL has anything helpful. Note to anyone else doing the same- you'll probably have to highlight the URL in case the full thing doesn't show, maybe even copy-paste it into your reply.
^Yeah, I've gotten that one as well. Seems to be running smooth atm though.
It's possible godaddy has not extorted us for enough money yet.
No problems here at the moment. I've been gone since around noon my time though (so 4.5 hours).
Just got back in for the first time in a few days. Nice to see everyone's smiling faces again! :)
Yeah, for what it's worth, I missed you guys. It felt weird being disconnected from Grogheads. Long may she wave, brothers. 8)
You big softie.
The forum being down was very frustrating and personal for me. I spend literally hours on the phone trying to get it sorted with GoDaddy "support". At one point, I was even on the phone arguing with them at 4 in the morning. I put support in quotes because the term is extremely loose where GoDaddy is concerned. They broke the forum and took no responsibility to get it fixed.
It's amazing how my brother was able to get it up and running in about half an hour. Anyway, I'm glad we're back and am looking forward to things getting back to normal.
You should make your brother a partner; between the huge Grogheads salary, executive washroom key, exclusive parking spot and....oh yeah!....and the hookers, who could resist such an offer?
Thank you for your Herculean efforts at get us back up and running Jarhead. O0 Without the Grogheads, all I had to do was play with my dongle.
Not to you maybe, but she did to me >:(
Well, there is always Sir Slash's solution 8)
Been really struggling with the site the last couple of days....keep getting this type of message....just posting for awareness.
"Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."
Grim, since the site came back up, I haven't had any problems getting on.
Could nott imagine that anyone else is finding a challenge. Hope this resolves quickly.
don't think that kind of error would be related to something specific on my pc.....but hopefully others aren't seeing it as much as me....happens quite frequently.
Not seeing any errors but the site takes a whole lot more time to load than it did before.
I've noticed the load times improving recently.
Back earlier this week there was a temporary lapse of service, for me, which amounted to resources being something something'd again. I mean it was another lack of resources message, but I don't recall it being the same one as before? I wasn't where I could snapshot it, or copy-paste it for later.

I just started getting these types of errors tonight on my iPad...
No new errors for me yet, but I just noticed (while working on Grogpublic matters) that the dice-roller hasn't been re-implemented yet. :dreamer:
We'd sure like that back, if possible, please?
Still loading slow for me.

i miss the spell check button when creating a post, but its not a high priority
I do find that loading times can be very slow.

Yeah...that's just a mod. I can re-load that.
 :smitten: :notworthy:
Don't know if this will be of any use but here's a screenshot of the message I just received:

Allow me to inaugurate a bi-monthly bump for this request. :smitten: O0
Bi-monthly bump for the return of the dice roller, please, failed to trigger the last two times, but I remembered this time! :bd: :nerd: :hide: :dreamer:
We could sure use it in the Grogpublic game as the competition grows more intense. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
I'm working on it. I tried to add it, but it didn't take. We have some underlying issues that are restricticting our capabilities in terms of Add-on options. These problems are fundamental and very difficult to resolve without jeopardizing the overall functionality of the forum.
