WizKids is working on a new line of HeroClix for the Assassin's Creed media license

2 previews are out now (text / images excerpted from their site)

QuoteEzio Auditore de Firenze possesses a new team ability called Assassins, which will allow him to use Stealth.  In addition, if an opposing character misses a close combat attack against this figure with doubles, you may place an action token on this character and deal the attacker 1 damage.

Ezio Auditore de Firenze begins play using Leap/Climb to get where he will be most useful on the map, and with the protection of his team ability, he will have little trouble hiding once he gets there.    Ezio can either attack with his 4 range and 2 damage, or get close to a foe to attempt to use Blades/Claws/Fangs.  A good stretch of Leadership can provide an extra action for your force as well as pull a token off an adjacent friendly character of fewer points.  An added bonus of adjacent friendly characters of less points is the Mastermind granted by his Blend special power.  When Ezio uses Mastermind to transfer damage, 1 of the damage dealt may instead be dealt as unavoidable damage to an adjacent opposing character that has not attacked him this turn.  Ezio in hindering terrain with adjacent support figures will be tough to deal with.

QuotePrince Ahmet has a trait called Blood Will End Bloodshed, allowing him to use Enhancement. Also, as a free action, you may choose an adjacent friendly character, roll a d6, and on a result of 6, that character's ranged combat attacks deal penetrating damage this turn.  With the boost from Enhancement, this could be quite deadly.

Prince Ahmet begins play hiding in the shadows with Stealth.  Along with his trait, he has many good reasons to keep a couple of range attackers adjacent to him.  Leadership can potentially add an action to your action pool, as well as remove a token from an adjacent figure, making his trait that much more useful.  Prince Ahmet also has a special power in his defense slot called I Will Shatter Your Plans–and You Will Take the Blame, that lets him use both Mastermind and Outwit.  This special power Outwit lets him roll a d6, and deal 1 damage to a different opposing character adjacent to the target on a result of 4-6.

Adding to his ability to get the most out of adjacent friendly figures is his team ability, the new TEMPLARS team ability.  If Prince Ahmet (or anyone using this TA) has one or more action tokens at the beginning of your turn, as a free action he can modify the attack or defense value of an adjacent friendly character by +1 until your next turn.  Making sure Prince Ahmet has action tokens often without fear of pushing is easy with his Indomitable combat ability.

After his opening click, Prince Ahmet trades Leadership for a run of Exploit Weakness, which will allow him to damage anyone he can hit who tries to base him and neutralize his trait.

I played my first Heroclix game the other day and I have to say it was fun in a simple kind of way.  The way the character's special powers change with each wound is brilliant.

I wonder if you would have had to play the video game to enjoy these.

I would say yes. HC does not add any fluff material with the product. The game would feel flat without knowing the back story.  That's the reason I bought LOTR over the Marvel miniatures.

Are all HeroClix paint jobs that shoddy?
"If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labelled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today."

^^ pretty much yes.  All clix games have some slapdash paint jobs on them.  Nothing saying you can't repaint them yourself, but they're visual flavor, not real artwork...
