Onto the next battle and crap its the sisters again............

9 - Steal the tomes from 2 sisters and hope to Sigmar to survive! The battle starts well, were all together, the wyrdstone is close and were near a row of buildings we can get Huw into. Martok is converted into a sword hero, heavy armour, sword, helmet shield - he can either seriously bolster Bobs guard or pretty much form another group and be the tank in that one. The house were guarding is actually on a lower level than most of the map - the sisters have to climb down ladders to get to us and the boys set up ambushes on all the entry points. The sisters leader gets it first, shot by Huw, hit by Pratt and skewered by Bob, we steal her bible and wait for the next nun to turn up. Bison continues his good Grog career start by chopping down an acolyte and it quickly transpires that Toonces couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo - viscious circle here - to improve his shooting he needs to hit things, to hit things we need to improve his shooting, i elect to keep him in the rear lines - let the pros do the chopping and he can step in and finish them off with the hand cannons to pick up the bonuses - im sure the lads will understand. Two more sisters are taken down but the band pass their morale check over and over - eventually the last sister turns up, the one we need the book from - she climbs down a ladder, Bison chops her nearly in half and Bob applies the finish with his fancy new 'mighty charge' skill - its all over, weve finally defeated a band of sisters.

We get bonuses galore - weve taken the field, got both the books and won a tactical victory for truly kicking their asses without much taken in return. Everyone gets a few more stat points, a few more swords are bought for the band and some shields - a great flail was lifted from one of the girls, we might give that to Gus instead of the halberd. Then again itll fetch a few crowns on the market

10 - Chaos cultists - grab as much booty as possible and kill the weirdos. Its a poor setup - the boys are in two groups. Toonces and Martok are in a huge 3 storey building overlooking the cultists wagon - the only problem - there is a s*** ton of cultists next to it. The boys will hole up, plink away at the bad guys and wait for the gang to turn up. Toonces goes to the wrecked balcony and starts shooting at people, some hit, most miss but hes whittling points off the baddies which is his job, the staircase behind him is guarded by Martok, good but now the cultists have seen Toonces theyre all about some revenge. I have no idea what it is or who it is but someone called the 'Ripper' comes up the stairs with an enchanted sword - glowing green and looking well menacing and sets about Martok, Toonces cant help because the staircase is too narrow not to shoot Martok - its a matter of time before Martok gets dispatched. The rest of the boys run to the house. Passing an abandoned cottage theres a whistling and a thunk and Bob takes an arrow to the helmet. The gang stop, set up for combat and theres a loud clang as Bob takes another arrow to the head! Round the corner come 2 more cultists, glowing swords and all kind of enchanted goodies - its going to be a straight up street fight. Gus, Bob and Pratt are backed up by Huw on crossbow and they set about the cultists one by one. Because of the way theyve set up the boys cause the cultists to have to take leadership tests before they attack due to it been one against 2 or 3. Paralysed by our fearsome look and the fact that Bob is fighting with two arrows in his head, they fail regularly and get clubbed to the ground - before they finally rout the Ripper crushes Martok - Toonces jumps out of the window and tries to circle back round to the boys before taking a hammer to the back of the head. Despite this small victory we win the day, have a huge bag of swag and almost, ALMOST won the extra bonuses except we forgot to pick up the bad guys lucky tokens, which were literally lying at our feet

The transverse one isn't a problem since there is little to impede its progress, however, the longitudinal one is a bit of an headache.

Ok, with the band progressing nicely and a few more members on the roster its time to tackle the first campaign mission.

11 - Kick the Skaven out of the Docks and secure the area for our Boss - good news, weve got experience and a good band, bad news theres no morale victory possible, we just have to keep going until the mission is accomplished or failed. Skaven will continue to spawn until we win - arse.

So...... pick up 10 barrels of gunpowder, take said barrels to the sewers, plant the barrels, run like a bastard whilst fighting off hoardes of Skaven - lets go

All the guys start on a jetty on the dock, complete with our boss, Lord Whatsisname - were on a level lower than the main dock and accommodation area. We need to climb up ladders to get to street level, and what would you know, weve got furry bad guys guarding the ladders. Two are standing on the street overlooking our position, and one pistol weilding git is on the top floor of a building. Hilariously the leader jumps down the ladder and engages Bob - the last thing the rat sees is an axe going through his face whilst 7 puzzled men look on. Sir Thingymejig runs left and takes Huw and Pratt with him, theyll try the left hand ladder, Bob, Gus, Star and Toonces take the right side ladder. Huw shoots the rat in the rafters and takes some return fire whilst our Royal leader and Pratt run up the ladder, straight into a shuriken weilding weird looking rat at the top. Its a real hunched over, cowardly looking thing - the art work is great and it oozes sneakiness and cowardliness. It throws poison stars at Pratt, misses and skulks off into the house, Lordly Lord runs after him and cuts him down - he has 3 attacks, mans a goddam rat killing tyrannasaurus. Huw follows and heads for the rat in the roof, finds him and shoots him out of the house from the top floor and takes his recon position amongst the timbers. With the house cleared the guys start to collect the barrels.

Team Bob head up the ladder, clear the street and head for the sewers. Their job is to clear the entrance to the sewers until the barrel bearers arrive, and scout round for any wyrdstone if there is any. With all the barrels collected the team meet at the sewer entrance - no rats so far. We plant 3 barrels here and head into the murk, 2 rats run out of the dark - Gus and Star dispatch them with no trouble, and we get a 'rat reinforcement warning' - after bunching up to accommodate the tightness of the tunnels we find 2 more rats, Bob and Sir doodah take them out and take point as they have the highest hit points and attack values. Behind them Huw and toonces on the artillery and the rest line up behind them - ahead the tunnel narrows near a cursed fountain of crap that spouts green gunk and dead fish - we try and avoid it and set off various Skaven traps. Bob peeps around the corner and mother of god its a Rat Ogre - its the whole of the tunnel wide and cleverly the fountain only allows us to put 2 men on attack at once - with a bit of tinkering we have Bob and Gus up front, and Huw, Toonces and Sir Whatsisiface all on ranged weapons with a bead on the monster. Its brutal, Bob is whittled down to 4 hit points left, Gus is hammered into the filthy sludge of the fountain and Sir Thingummy almost dies - the mission is over if he does. I move him to the back and Pratt steps in, he gets flattened and only Huw has the courage to finish the guy off - the chaps need to pass a fear test to attack the beast - with a final bellow of hatred and rage the monster dies, we plant the rest of the barrels and get out of there.

Mission accomplished, fame and fortune all round and many bonus points and upgrades to apply. The damage isnt that bad except one exception - Gus has lost an arm - thats his 2 handed specialisation out of the window. Oddly enough he gets a balance bonus by weilding a sword and not having an arm, he joins the ranks as a sword swisher, we'll recruit another 2 hander to the ranks, all the rest are bruises and cuts - all is well
