I've had this one for awhile, but don't recall it ever being mentioned here. What is wrong with you people?!  :knuppel2:

It is pretty impressive for what is in essence a game made by one 21 year-old guy and his brother. It gets tons of support with regular content updates.

With a failed Kickstarter campaign and 53 euros in our pocket (nope), my brother and I decided to get the game done even with all odds against us.

Hex of Steel is a WWII solo and online cross-platform (Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS, Android) wargame that covers all fronts and countries.

How does Hex of Steel compare to other wargames ? I'm glad you asked !
The game features a plethora (over 1400) of units.

You are probably thinking "Yeah but like any other wargame out there like Panzer Corps or Unity Of Commands has that many units".

Why then should you be getting this game, and what would you be missing on ?

All the in game easy-to-use editors: Create or modify any tile, unit, country, or map you want. You will be using the same tools I used to design the game. No more, no less.
HUGE maps (up to 72.000 tiles) representing entire FRONTS. Such as : The Pacific, Europe, Eastern front, Italy, Germany, and more !
LOTS of mechanics : Supply line, encirclement, weather (rain/snow with FX), season changing, capturing enemy units, bombing cities, diving with submarines, attrition and many more !
A Random Scenario Generator with a lot of parameters !
Unit customization : Want to equip your plane with a drop tank so it can fly further ? In Hex of Steel, you can do it, and much more
Functional steam workshop to share maps, graphics, wallpapers and more
Very VERY frequent updates. At some point it was everyday. Bugs don't wait ! Why would you play a buggy game ?!
A game with NO paid content whatsoever (if you exclude the support pack which isn't content). To hell with DLCs and money-thirsty devs ! BOUH !
Your ideas / wishes realized. Countless players have contributed to this game, if you have ideas, good, or less good, please contact me
Instant (or almost) answer from the developer himself. I am here for YOU
The possibility to play against the developer and kick his ass and have your victory registered in the leaderboard for everyone to see :)

Thank you to all the players and the amazing community I have !

I think this had a name change.  Used to be called Operation Citadel.

Sir Slash

I never heard of it, until now. Any game that allows me to shoot V-2's at people has got to be good.  O0

This completely passed me by too.

Thanks for the link JH.

Looks an amazing project for such a young guy to develop. Wishlisted and will try out the demo tomorrow.

Cheers.

Yes. Good point. I see it was mentioned under that name in a steam sale thread from 2020, but only in passing. No dedicated thread, which it certainly deserves!

There is a demo available of an earlier version of the game on Steam: Hex of Steel
