Sorry, I wasn't disputing since I'm not familiar with the story. I should have said 'German soldiers were also used extensively...'.

The same is true for troops.

You can only hit anything when you see something happening. If its army vs army or country vs country there are locations that are targets. Hardware, facilities, supplies.

If its an insurgency you only get to respond to when they stick their head up. You are always reacting to their initiative. They control the war. The tempo, the locations, their risks reward ratio. Its a shite deal.
