Is that SH5?
Sorry, I should have mentioned that. Yes it's SH5, heavily MODDED

The environment MOD I'm using is "Dynamic Environments" (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=182377) , making this game a true beauty.

^Nice to see you around here Scott.

Thanks!  The internet drifter continues to drift with the tides.   ;)

Took some screenies from Battlefield 3 tonight (the new Aftermath maps are excellent!):

Just a view of a battlefield a helo was patrolling

This is a shot of an IFV I destroyed with a suicide attack.  What had happened is that the IFV pinned down some of my team.  Seeing that I had some C4 on me, I decided to take advantage of the IFV's preoccupation with machine gunning my teammates and rushed the rear of the vehicle.  I got the C4 on and was retreating when I saw that big ol' gun start to aim at me.  :-\ Realizing I was doomed one way or the other, I decided to go down in a blaze of glory by detonating the C4 early, knowing I would go up with the vehicle.  And I did.  Fortunately, a medic was in the area and revived me!

Going into the attack

Sniped this guy.  I guess I was too close to the target because the bullets went right through him and into the wall!

Took a piece of this tank with a Javelin

Still playing sniper.  I was hunkered down watching a fight take place just behind that building when this guy somehow sneaked through the carnage and ran...right into my sights  :)

^Great screenies Rooks.  I'm gonna have to bust out my copy and play today.

Thanks!  The new Aftermath map pack is the first one since B2K that really has the old BF magic.  I just wish they would not have bothered to include such CoD elements as a crossbow and a new scavenger mode.  ::)  When is DICE going to learn that they can't beat Activision at their own game?

When patrolling British coastal waters, early in the war, fog is a blessing. It keeps aerial patrols off your back.  At the same time, Allied escorts have yet to be equipped with radar, making swift surface attacks a viable option.  In short: Fog + relatively calm sea = perfect hunting ground.

Also, it's under these conditions you, sooner or later, will realize that you haven't really lived, until you've been jumped by a hunter killer group.....with an attitude.

Yeah, that is a fantastic shot!

I wonder if we'll ever see a SH6?

Might be nice if they moved into the early Cold-War era- late 40's, 50's, early 60's.

I would love one set in the '70s-'80s, i.e., another Red Storm Rising or Dangerous Waters.

I wouldn't count on it.

After the SH5 Ubi DRM debacle, the sales were obviously pretty mediocre.  Enough for them to pull the SH5 team earlier than expected, and send them to other projects before all the planned updating was even done.

Considering the series had always barely been getting the greenlight from Ubi management in the past, this was probably the last hurrah for the series (while Ubisoft has the rights).

But don't forget about Silent Hunter Online.  That could well be the future of the franchise.

Could be.  But isn't it just browser-based?

While browser-based game engines have improved quite a bit lately, they are still pretty limited in scope from what I've seen thus far.  Ha! "Scope".  Punny.

You are mistaken.  Heroes and Generals is a full blown shooter with real-time strategic aspects in a browser. :)
