I see this is half price on Steam - and also looked at an old thread on Grogheads that seemed to give mixed reviews. Has the game been updated at all - and now its been out a while does anyone have any view on it having played it a while?
I used to play Fighting Steel a great deal - could this be considered a successor?

Game has received some updates but also mods that improved the game.

I was one of those early folks who was on the fence about it.
But the game has improved quite a bit since its release, and I have been playing the heck out of it recently; been having a blast.
I have even been playing it vanilla. But I have heard the mods really add to the game.
Sure, it is not perfect, but IMHO it is a steal at $19. Definitely scratches that SSI "Fighting Steel" and GNB itch.

Reviews have improved a lot.
For the changes you should read the Steam page of the TTE mod. The list of improvements and changes is quite long.
The original game play is still there but with a lot of tweaks.

The basic game was fine. You just had to tweek it and not play the campaign. The basic battle editor was excellent.

I build my own battles in the editor.
It's pretty good I tried it for 2 hours with steam refund policy. It seemed ok, just didn't think I'd play it much with all the flight simming I do. The campaign UI seemed really tedious to use, if the UI was stream lined, this could be an all time classic. I may pick it up again when it drops to 10 bucks. When it gets that cheap, I just add to the library regardless if I'd put 0 to 20 hours into it.
