Title: Oil Rush
Post by: LongBlade on February 22, 2012, 09:17:47 AM
While looking at Wargame: European Escalation on Steam I saw a recommended game, Oil Rush: http://oilrush-game.com/

Looks like an interesting RTS - anyone playing it?

I've played it, its quite a simplistic game, similar to the likes of Galcon.

You capture nodes and they autogenerate units that you amass and send to attack/defend other nodes. You also spend your income on boosting node defences. It looks nice, as these custom boats attack each other. But its very limited tactically - you just build a shed load of boats and hope you can time your expansion and defensive positions, with the enemy waves of attack. Nothing massively innovative about the experience. And I haven't been motivated to return to it after my brief play to be honest.

I got more joy out of the indie space based title of similar node conquest Blue Libra (http://orator-games.com/index.php/games/blue-libra/) (which is sort of a more involved version of Galcon).

Bummer. For $20 I was leery.
