Curious to learn what people are getting or looking at getting during GOG sale. Just about the whole library is on sale.
Here's what i'm looking at[it seems like i'm in an FP mood and playing games that end]
it ends July 6th so i have time to talk myself out of some of these.
DEUX EX 1 GOTY
THIEF 1&2 [they just released a new installer today with the latest new dark renderer]
IMPERIALISM 2
PAINKILLER BLACK
STRONGHOLD CRUSADER HD
FARCRY 1
CLIVE BARKER'S UNDYING
the only ones for sure right now are deus ex and thief 1&2, in fact i'm downloading a new texture pack for deus ex right now :) and haven't bought the game yet.
I just finally bought Witcher 2.
I may finally break down and get The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition (whatever that means)....it's $5.99 today. I really enjoyed the first Witcher but this one seemed to get mixed reviews, but at that price I could skip lunch and break even for the day.
Ha...Tinkershuffle, we posted our notes at the same time. Good luck with the game.
You too. :) I'm scared to install it though because of the total neglect of real life duties it will bring along for a couple of weeks..
I'm thinking of picking up the Freespace games and Independence War 2 along with IL2-Stormovik.
(I kind of feel like flying a bit. :) )
Silent Storm 2
Witcher 2
Spycraft the Great Game
Even though I don't need any of these... nor do I think I will finish these, but I will purchase anyway......
Probably:
Evil Genius
Signal Ops
UnEpic
Considering:
Miasmata
PE
Even with all the games I have on my plates at the moment, I bought....
King of Dragon Pass
Planetscape Torment
I'm really tempted to get the wing commander, commando, and imperialism series. But I already have a ton of games in my back log......on second thought, who am I kidding I'm going to break down and get them anyway......

I think with 76 games I have all the ones i think i want from GOG right this minute.
Some have aged poorly but some are still great games for dirt cheap.
Maybe I will get a few more just because...
Gave up on GOG sadly. I bought Alpha Centauri at Christmas as it was just under 3 pounds (English pounds) problem was there was a hidden charge, they deny it was them and the bank are saying the same, think it was the currency translation, I ended up with it costing near double the price, still not a lot when you look at it but it is not what I read the original price as so am reluctant to buy anything else, shame as there a few on there that I would not mind getting, I have the originals but have to juggle DOS or some other magic to get them working, so getting the GOG versions would be great.
Darkspire
I currently bought myself System Shock 2 and Great Battles Collection

I am sad to hear that. I have had very little trouble with GOG.
Anyone have comments about Signal Ops? The artwork looks great!
I may purchase Caesar III for some nostalgic fun...or maybe B-17? Or perhaps Comanche Vs Hokum?
I'm probably going to pass. Sure, I could buy a pile of games...that I would never, ever get around to playing. Not much point to that, really.

Who the Honk are you? Talking like that. It is like Mount Everest or Pam Anderson. You wait in line and then just do it because they are there.

Silent Storm 2
Witcher 2
Spycraft the Great Game
Bought them. Another brick in the wall of games I don't have time to play.
But at least it was less than $14 total.
Witcher 2
Children of the Nile
King of Dragon Pass
Gothic III
Fallout
Fallout II
Cossacks Anthology
American Conquest: Fight Back!
FTL
System Shock 2
Signal Ops
Conquest of the New World
Conquest: Frontier Ops

You didn't have FTL yet? I'm shocked!
I know. Me too. There was something that just made me hesitate. I think the feeling that it would get repetitive.

I would suggest Comanche vs Hokum + Apache vs Havoc and then download the community mod http://eechcentral.simhq.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
B-17 is very good game, however the gunner controls are very awkward, but still a good game and nothing out there like it.

Oh man am I glad I clicked on this thread. There are several games you guys mentioned that I forgot about or didn't even know were on there.
Clive Barker's Undying is a sure bet- that's a very scary game but I can't get it to run from CD anymore.
And I forgot about that Ancient Battles collection- gotta grab that too...stat!
So far I bought Panzer Elite, Gothic 2 and some other Gothic game, Gothic complete or something like that.
Sweet! So I got Undying and Great Battles for a cool 6 clams total and I'm installing now! W00t! ;D

;D HA! Nope, I got off that train. No more stocking up on things I might never play.
I'm with you, Arctic. As tempting as this sale is, I really don't need any more games. I already have enough that I've barely touched that would last until the end of my life.

I'm limiting my purchases to games that I am really, REALLY big on.

Did you ever get the
Zeus & Poseidon set from GOG? It's the last of the series from which Caesar III came, set in classical Greece of course. I was impressed with how far they took the 2D city builder with that one... and there's even a hi-res & widescreen mod out there for it.
not sure if its in the sale, but i was pleased to get Imperialism 1 and 2, D & D Dragonshard, and Stronghold HD through GOG
I know for sure that both Imperialism titles are part of the sale, so you made out good there. :)
I grabbed Baldurs Gate I & II 8)
I'm tempted to go for the whole Might & Magic series but couldn't live long enough to play them. I almost bit on Neverwinter Nights 2 for $4. And I've already got it. You can never have enough Forgotten Realms.

I've had fun playing M&M 5 (World of Xeen) but have a lot more to go yet. It's certainly one of the most fun of the series, if you're okay with the DOS graphics. While I've been side-tracked with their recent releases of Wizardry 6-8, I still want to return to M&M 5 because it has a better UI than Wizardry 7 Gold (which also runs sluggish at times). Those are definitely two of the best old-fashioned party based "tile" RPGs of the DOS era. I'm not sure if they have the Wizardry ones on sale right now as they were just recently released on GOG.
I <3 you turn-based games. :-*
I'm still struggling through Icewind Dale 2. I don't know if it's worth trying to finish but I hate to just give-up after getting through about 3/4 of the game. I actually finished M&M1 on my Amiga way back there.

Years ago I got to about the same place then ran into a brick wall of difficulty that I just couldn't get past so I never finished. Finished IWD1 but never 2. Same was true with Baldurs Gate, finished 1 but not 2, ran into that same spike in difficulty then moved on to something else. Hmmm...same thing with Fallout, finished 1 but not 2....I'm seeing a trend here. Good luck, I hope you make it through the game.
Thanks Rayfer. I'm at the spot where you have to kill this giant Black Dragon and then follows a wave after wave of Yuan-Ti. Can't get past the dragon. You have to have +3 or better weapons to hit him. I can always drop the difficulty level I suppose. It's just not as fun as the early part of the game.

That is a hard spot. I've had to resort to "rule bending" like having a thief spot the dragon and then launch area of effect spells out of the line of sight of the dragon. Drop or severely would the dragon before actually launching a conventional attack.
I almost always have to use a large number of magic items, etc...... to get through this particular battle. This is just a spot where the game balance is off and extreme measures have to be taken by the player. It is not you, it is the game.

Children of the Nile (which I picked up on the recent sale today from my wishlist) is the last of the series, I think, sort of going back to remake
Pharaoh/Cleopatra (which I also got from them on a previous sale. And
Zeus/Poseidon.)
Jack, while I did pick up B-17 (again) from somewhere or other on sale recently, I recall it being very broken; ditto Comanche/Hokum (which I also own on disk somewhere but haven't rebought). I honestly don't know why I rebought, except on hope that there would be fan patches somewhere... {hint?}{hint?}{anyone?}
I see GOG has Eador Master of the Broken World on sale for 13.99 USD. I know it had a buggy release but how is it now after a month or so of patching?
^Was going to ask the same thing...

I've not had any problems with it, the bit I've played. However, I've not reached a late game scenario yet so it's not been fully explored.
There were lots of complaints about the interface, but it's not too bad once you get it down. The only tough one to deal with is the building options and you can just click an extra button to display a whole window filled with all possible ones & their dependencies. There's an Animation Speed slider that I recommend you move up a ways so that combat animations don't take ages in between orders.

I have always been curious about Cossacks and American Conquest...have you had a chance to play them? Are they worth it? Since old games, do they work well in modern times?
I played and reviewed both when they were new. I liked Cossacks a lot more than American Conquest. Haven't played either in 10+ years, so I wonder how they hold up...
I remember hearing a lot of good things about Cossacks 2 (and its sequel/updates), not so much about American Conquest for some reason which puzzles me as they're the same engine. (Then again the same devs wrote a WW1 game with the same engine, too, and it got pasted in the reviews. But we're talking about the same basic time period and military tactics for the other two games... ???)
I picked up the AmConq and Coss packages all together at GoG a few weeks back. Haven't played them yet. I seem to be too busy buying games (or rebuying them in those cases!) to play them...
Cossacks was just better put together. American Conquest was chaotic for me. I felt I had more control in Cossacks...never played Cossacks II.
