I'm at $0.00 as well.  That'll obviously change when I pick up Pandora, but otherwise I don't plan on buying any other games this holiday season.

My holiday damage will be limited, as well...unless I manage to get my hands I'm a next gen console system...then, I could be in trouble.

$0 from holiday PC games........

....but my impulses got the best of me last night when I walked into a local Target store and saw they had an Xbox One Console available which have been very scarce in my area....

10 minutes later my damage was.....

$499 for the console and an additional $100 after buying two games to go along with it:(

From $0 to $600 in a matter of minutes:(  Darn impulses!

Right now I'm enjoying the heck out of Survivor Squad, but it looks like it's finally time to get on board the Skyrim wagon.  $21 for the Legendary Edition.  I'm sure this won't be my last post in this thread.

I went old school last night and picked up CMSF+Marines expansion for $25.  My son expressed interest in it and so I went grabbing for my wallet.  We'll find out today if he likes it (I still prefer CMx1 but then again I am a really old fart!).  That is about going to be my spending budget for Black Friday though Multiman Publishing always puts on a super black Friday sale and I can always use more ASL stuff.  That will be some tough temptation there if they put some Action Packs on sale.

Yeah - I did late last night.  Reminds me yet again of why I didn't bother with CMx2 and their DRM/licensing mess.  So yeah, you click the link to get the first patch (in a list of like 5 patches) and it takes you to the latest patch with no reference at all to the earlier patches.  Finally found a site that had all the patches listed and linked.  Praise be to Matrix yet again - you click "Check for updates" and it checks and then if it finds one, it downloads and installs it for you.  Ugh, my son better LOVE this game!  lol

Since my birthday (Nov 15), which basically starts the holiday season for me, I've added

Lego LOTR
Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies
Survivor Squad
Kerbal Space Program
Arma2Complete
Darkest Hour Hearts of Iron
SC:WW1+Breakthru (including shipping)
Xenonauts
Tradewinds Classics (first three TW games)
Dawn of War2:Retribution
The King's Crusade Collection
Reach for the Sun
Type:Rider
Contrast

...some of those were on sale. And, uh, for my nieces. :-[ {removing Blades of Arkania from my shopping cart}

{heading to Matrix to shop} {holy bleep there are 12 PAGES of games on sale at GG}{do they mean buy 4 pay for 3 on top of the discounts???}

Thus far:

Prison Architect    $14.99

Outside of that I don't see anything getting low enough in my wishlist for me to bite... however if it gets there I may.  The only other STEAM purchase I am considering is Tropico 4 Collector's Edition..... still going back and forth on it.  On Matrix CC Panthers in the Fog, but as of right now not sure I will purchase as it would be my first CC game.

Out of curiosity, why Fallen Enchantress and not Legendary Heroes?  By almost all accounts, the latter is the superior game (although the former is apparently still definitely better than the original War of Magic).

I played FE for about 15 or 20 hours and just couldn't get into it.  I couldn't get the hang of the game and I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing differently.

Based on superior reviews here for LH, I went ahead and bought Legendary Heroes a few weeks ago and I'm MUCH more impressed by it.  It's not perfect, but the game just feels like the pieces fit together much more tightly now.  I'm already past the 25 hour mark and have only played the Ironeer faction in any depth.  I have yet to play any other factions, much less customize my own.

In part due to how impressed I was by that, I official kicked off my Holiday Damage Party by purchasing all 4 DLCs (the Heroes pack, the Quest pack, the Map pack, and the Dead Faction pack) at 50% off.  Given that I only paid $20 for LH, I figure shelling out another $10 for additional content is fine.  I do hope that somebody designs some good mods to introduce additional Magic Items.

The Magic Items that they have so far are fine, but they're not very abundant or particularly powerful.  I want my Magic Flame Tongue, by God!

Alright, I'm done for the weekend.  I picked up the B377 Stratocruiser and the Captain of the Ship bundle from SimMarket for $51, and I threw in the free Catalina Island scenery as well.  I'm going to try to hold off on any other FSX purchases until Christmas.

I've been eyeing the B377 package for a while, and at $51 it's a pretty good deal.

For some reason I cannot get the PBY to download from FSPilotshop...not sure if it's a server thing or what.  I'm going to keep trying for a few days and then fire off a support ticket.

Well, if you have the A2A B-17 I can't see any good reason to get the B-24.  It's going to be a let down compared to the B-17 based upon the research I've done (but having never flown either).  I was truly sitting on the fence between the B-17 and B377.  In the end, I've been wanting the B377 for a few months now whereas the B-17 would have been an impulse purchase...so I decided to pull the trigger on the one I've been wanting longer.

This has to end.  Seriously, I can't seem to keep my wallet closed and it's bothering me.

Ok, so I found the Hawaii hi-res scenery for a mere $2 at PCAviator: http://www.pcaviator.com.au/store/product.php?productid=555210&cat=732&page=1

Now I'm eyeballing the FSDream Team PHNL and Hawaii Airports Vols 1 and 2.  If you get all three you get like 40% off (total is about $52).  Then, you can pick up the Ground expansion GTX for 30% off using the code TURKEY2013 which brings it to like $25.

This is pretty hard.   ::)

Between Noble Knight's store-wide sale and some Ebay bids, I've probably dropped about $250 to $350 on tabletop gaming goodness.   I think most of the stuff I got at Noble Knight was around 22% off but I've been extremely satisfied with their prompt shipping and the good condition of a couple used games I got from them - one of which actually had a whole extra game in the series included in it just because they obviously didn't have the box to the second one (so I essentially got the guts of the second for free).  I just wish their website was easier to browse - you usually need to do a store search and dig through the results.

Not really much in the way of digital gaming.  I've only spent about $35 on the Steam sale for myself.  I actually spent more money on gifting Steam games to others.

I have pretty much everything else I'd like...though if Arma 3 drops below $40 I might pick that up....and I might get the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass.

Shelldrake: I can highly recommend the DMP Afrika Korps mod. It's in German, but from what I've read about the Panzer Corps expansion, the DMP mod is better (and free). Their other mods are great too. The new Pazifik Korps mod (1 campaign released thus far) has texts and briefings in English and is enjoyable as well (I've just started it and I'm playing the fourth mission, and the maps are so big that you can easily get at least 25 hours from a single campaign according to DMP. Seeing the size of the Shanghai map, I don't doubt that).

Aside from that, I'm also playing the Hungarian campaign mod for Panzer Corps.

Not really sure how or why, but I keep coming back to these Panzer General like games from time to time. It's just a lot of fun to play through a well-made campaign, and the DMP campaigns (their East Front campaigns, Winter War and now Pazifik Korps) are really good.

Pretty tame for me so far, as long as I don't count the xbox one I bought:)

- Shadowrun Returns $8
- Bioshock Infinite $8

Still likely will pickup Crysis 3 ($8), but haven't done so yet...

Anyone have much experience with the 'Man of War' series? Whilst they are not actually in the sale, they are pretty cheap on Steam and I quite like the look of them, especially the Vietnam one.

I went a little nuts and bought a bunch of Avalanche Press stuff:

  • Great War At Sea: Cruiser Warfare
  • Second World War At Sea: Strike South
  • Great War At Sea: Zeppelins
  • Great War at Sea: Pacific Crossroads
  • Second World War At Sea: Midway

Even with my Gold Membership discount on top of the already deep discounts I've pretty much blown my holiday gaming stash. I have no idea why I'm so drawn to these GW/SWW at Sea games since I already own about 13 of the boxed ones and at least 9 supplements but have yet to actually play any of them against anyone else. Yet there is is....  :-\

I'd say you have the War At Sea stuff down.  I still have the old WWI Mediterranean one from the 90s sitting around but I never played it much.

I ordered Picket Duty - Okinawa from NWS last Monday, and tossed in the Hell Over Korea expansion for B-29 Superfortress.  I figured that I'd get some of the B-17 Queen Of The Skies style solitaire gaming in while anxiously waiting on The Hunters, but it looks like I may be waiting on these for a bit too.  :-\  At least I can do so with the base B-29 game, but I think it's best setting is probably Korea .. much deadlier.  Really looking forward to running a destroyer in Picket Duty most of all.

Buying Rising Storm and Verdun at the Steam sale now, despite the fact that Verdun (MP WWI FPS)  is in late beta (or early access). Getting both together for about 18-fiddy.

Also don't know how my temporary duct-taped internet set up will handle MP. But I'm willing to take the risk.

Also want CoD Ghosts but even on sale for 50.00, well, that's still too high for me.

They are good games, especially the first one, that fit in the gap between Company of Heroes and Combat mission/Graviteam tactics. Sometimes the single player missions feel more like puzzles than a regular RTS though and the game in general is pretty challenging. If you're not in a hurry I'd say wait a bit longer because they are quite often even in -75% sale either in Steam or Gamersgate.

(Edit.) And if you're really lucky you can get the whole series from Bundlestars only with few bucks. ;)

RoF is a great sim, but whether it's a great game is another question.  It's a proper sim which you'll need to learn, and perhps buy hardware for, to really enjoy.  If you've not tried it before and you're worried about the cost, you can still download the FTP version - if you like that then $25 for CBE is a good deal.

The official career mode is beta (and the campaign modes are canned: just a string of missions with a story loosely included plus the game's psychotic-sounding English dialogue. ;) ) There is an unofficial career generator available at the RoF site for free which takes a bit of fiddling to set up, but is continually supported and upgraded, and purportedly is much better, including with AI tweaks. I've got it, and have set up a mission a few days ago, but due to holiday/nieces haven't played it the generated mission yet.

Just to elaborate...I've never touched the career or campaign, I've just read mutterings in some quarters that the single player mode lacks atmosphere and immersion.  Hence just flying the different crates around in the (IMO) great scenery makes it a great sim, but I'm not sure how much game there is.  Having said that a lot of people do take on the beta career.

As an experience I think MP is fantastic in RoF.  For me that has bags of atmosphere, but it can be difficult to get into.  In the end I think you'll get much more than $25 worth of entertainment from it.

It's certainly colorful in regard to flying the dang planes. No yanking the stick around hoping to force the plane outside its performance envelope: in this game that means the plane and/or the engine falls apart, and you crash.

And while $25 may not be bank-breaking, buying extra planes can be. :) Especially since, as far as I can tell, planes cannot be bought one at a time off the RoF site and then used on Steam; they have to be bought in the Steam bundles. Which are cost-effective (when on sale), assuming you're willing to play for planes you don't necessarily want, but not so much when not on sale.

The career campaign in ROF still features randomly generated missions every day that you're listed to fly (if you're not recovering from wounds or wotnot).  The complete I generally see is that when you're actually flying missions, the other aircraft just spawn out of thin air specifically for your mission.  It's not a "living world" but randomly generated missions for your squadron and all the other aircraft flying about at the same time you are were there because they were 'rolled for'.

It is still a randomly generated campaign.  There's just not some whole war being seamlessly simulated around you.  It's actually a bit like the Third Wire sims' randomized campaign systems, but has a better looking interface and details.  As for how well it generates missions, enemies, etc I don't have enough experience to say.

From what I gather, Thirdwire's First Eagles 2 involves a dynamic campaign generator where your opponents don't spawn right on top of you (and especially not until the game gets tired of them spawning on top of you!), but rather the units are going about their own business, including most units having nothing to do with your mission at all. I think I recall hearing the specific mission units do spawn, in order to 'protect' them from other units going about their business, but at a reasonable distance from the player. Meanwhile, mission success or failure affects how well the war is going, with harder difficulties providing less effect, but still the front reacts to the player's contributions. (There is a dynamic front possibility in the career generator for RoF, at least for PW's unofficial career generator--I don't recall if it's in the official beta--but I don't recall reading yet that the player affects it. The front just shifts according to the historical timeline.)

Yes, the Third Wire sims spawn groups of aircraft a ways off and sends them on their own missions.  Do the ones in ROF spawn them right in front of you?  I thought they spawned beyond visual range?

I didn't always care that much about my individual mission success having a big effect on the overall war in these campaigns.  I mean.. you're just one man and machine, so I always thought such a system likely overstated your effect on the outcomes in the grand scheme of things.  I'd prefer something closer to reality than the one (super)man army effects on campaigns.  It's not a big deal either way for me, though.  Some people really want it.  *shrug*

When it all comes down to it, the new version of OFF still sounds to be the best for campaigning.  Moreso since it has so many optional settings.  Now if they can only get it out in good shape this month, as stated, I'll certainly devle into that one too.  :D

C'mon man, you gotta pay attention.  I keep posting these sales up!

GTX is a ground vehicle enhancement by FSDreamteam.  I've only barely touched it, but so far it seems to add a ton of activity around your jet.

http://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=19931&cat=0&page=0&featured=Y

You gotta wait for it to go on sale again, now.  I checked and I got it for $27 so you have to wait for a Christmas sale.

I was wrong on the PBY, I got that for $27; you can still get the boxed version on sale at FS Pilotshop:

And I thought the average FPS game had a fair amount of DLC nowadays! Flight sims look like a microtransaction cash cow for the developer.

So far, I've only bought Faster Than Light (http://www.gog.com/game/faster_than_light) from GOG.com for $3.39. That price didn't last long and it's priced at $9.99 now.

Update: I couldn't resist picking up Trine 2: Complete Story (http://www.gog.com/promo/trine_2_launch_promo_031213) from GOG.com for $2.99 (I already owned Trine, so I got an 85% discount).

A total of $6.38 "damage" so far.

Hard to imagine what the "Holiday" sale will offer that the "Autumn" sale didn't ...  Why not just have one big Holiday sale for the 3-4 weeks leading up to Xmas or something - ?

Human psychology I'd guess.  Keep the sales up for too long and it becomes a routine and I'd bet sales drop off.  Take the sale away, let the anticipation build and launch another one, ring the bell and we all start drooling again.

LOL...looks to be true....and they aren't cheap!

You know, I used to read forum posts from people where they said their FSX install was worth thousands of dollars.  I never could quite understand that.  Up until about 3 months ago I have always flown stock MS Flight Simulator and freeware aircraft.

When I started getting into FSX again, I bought Air Hauler and the PMDG 737.  Once I got a taste of what a really, really well done payware aircraft was like I started looking for more.

The more I flew, the more the little things, like weather, started to bother me.  So it was off to buy a weather program and better textures.  And so on.

But even then I'd say everything would have been fine, and I still couldn't see how this could get into the thousands of dollars.  UNTIL last weekend when I finally bought some payware scenery.  HOLY CRAP!  Now I see how this can get expensive.  I got the payware Honolulu Intl and the ground vehicles expansion, and it is so spectacular, has taken the scenery to such a higher level, that I can totally see myself pimping out a lot more of the world with payware scenery.  Considering that even on sale the Honolulu scenery was about $15, you can imagine how quickly populating the world with payware scenery will add up to big bucks.

I probably shouldn't have bought payware scenery.  I was ok with the stock scenery before.  Now that I've seen the good stuff, the stock stuff looks pretty bad by comparison!

I still play it vanilla - I'm scared to go down the add-on route because of cost considerations, although the OV10 did tempt me mightily. But at least I can enjoy seeing the stuff that you guys get, so keep 'em coming!

Well if I've learned nothing else, it's that if you do decide to add some payware stuff, wait for a sale.  Most of the online flight sim retailers offer regular specials.

Indeed, that's 250 hours of quality gaming without even considering the official DLC expansions yet, much less the completely free mods!

(Unless you want to never play Skyrim again, but only be fiddling with mods, don't get mods. ;) )

So, anyone got any post-sale reports on hidden gems, pleasant surprises, or crushing disappointments?

I bought only two games during the sales, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.  (I wonder if I've got a predisposition for colons? Best not to delve too deeply there...)

Anyway, I'm quite happy with both purchases.  Call of Juarez has some good FPS gunfight action, a pretty decent storyline, and includes a fair amount of actual Wild West historical factoids that you can pick up as collectibles in-game.  For $5, it's a very good game.

Fallen Enchantress is good also.  I'm enjoying it enough that I picked up the DLC for it.  I found the interface to be fairly easy to learn and I was able to get going within 30-45 minutes or so.  It's got some rough edges and some interface improvements I'd like to see but it does the job.  The game itself is fun and plays like a mix between Civ and Might and Magic.  I'm still working on how to properly pace my exploration, research,  and expansion rates as I seem to rush in too soon and lose my champions in combat while at the same time, my cities seem to lag behind the AI as I'm always trailing in the score rankings.  I've won one game on easy against 3 AI opponents but I keep getting spanked on a 6-player game on normal difficulty.

Mostly, among the things I picked up (near the start of the sale) I've played Rise of Flight (Steam edition), with the latest edition of PW's unofficial campaign generator. I've struggled hard just to stay alive across 7 missions (now into April 1916) in the coastal area near Nieuport, flying outmoded Eindeckers against all kinds of early competent Entente planes. Haven't shot down a single plane, or even wounded one so far as I know. But I have nothing new to say about the game that isn't common knowledge already.

In lieu of accomplishing much of anything flying my little stop-and-go-cart with a machine gun, I've finished two campaigns (one German, one British) with Sid Meier's Ace Patrol. But I picked that up long ago when it was first released, not on sale.

I think the only game (per se) I bought while on sale that I've actually played around a little with, other than RoF so far, is a nifty little hex-based strategy game for very young children called A Day In The Woods, which I bought at GG. I'll be interested to see what my nieces think of it! (But they only wanted to play Lego Lord of the Rings.  ::) :P Not least because they want to watch the movies but even the first is far too scary for them. Well, parts aren't, but it's hard to get to Rivendale without having fast forward through quite a lot of super-scary things. And after that, there's still 9 hours of unrelenting horror to go!)

I see that Steam is now selling Dominions 4.

Those of us who already bought it at GG or Desura can just activate it with our key from the other places, if we also want a Steam copy.

Well I finally grabbed Pandora: First Contact this morning -- and for the first time, I've purchased a digital-download-only copy of a Matrix/Slitherine/AGEOD game (no physical disk/box).  With my beta-tester discount, I spent $22.49.

I won't say that that's absolutely all I'm going to spend on games this holiday season, if for no other reason that that making "ironclad" promises like that is only tempting fate IMO.  :P  However, I will say that I won't be parting with another cent for games unless it's one I badly want to own/try, and is being sold at an unbelievably and/or absurdly low price...and offhand, I can't think of any games that I badly want to have that I don't already own.

Glad you're enjoying the game SDR

FWIW, I too am still figuring out the right balance between expansion, research, etc.  But then, I feel that finding that balance is merely part of the fun.  :)

The Dragon Age Ultimate Edition is only 7.49 on Steam. That's the original DA game with all the DLCs and add-ons. I'm tempted even though I own the damn game on DVD (sans any DLC or add-ons, though).

Edit: Went ahead and bought it. There's so much additional content that I thought it was worth the 7.49 to get it.

I believe that makes it $49.04 for me so far, now, with that FFG Pyramids of Horus purchase. I hope it arrives tomorrow as UPS is reporting!

Well, holiday sale damage can be something more than just monetary.  Got Bard's Tale on GOG today for $2.49. Though the dialogue is funny in a juvenile, sarcastic way, it is just an awful game....the camera angle/view and the UI are painful making the game (IMHO) next to impossible to enjoy.

I picked that newer one up awhile back just to get the old ones.  Unfortunately the old ones use some piece of crap emulator that runs slow as frozen snot and you have to run the new game to even get to them.  May as well just track down the DOS versions and use DOSbox.  :-\

Got Rome 2: Caesar in Gaul for $12 on Saturday. Not as deep as a discount as I was originally holding out for but given the lack luster Steam sale I don't regret it.

I realized Saturday night, the only DLC I don't own for CK2 is the Sunset Invasion DLC for CK2. I also own all the EUIV DLC....Paradox has got way too much of my money this year.

My tally so far:

Steam and Iron: Russo-Japanese War $34.99

Wings Over Flanders Fields: $59.99

I'm afraid I'm not done yet. I plan to pick up Scourge of War: Chancellorsville and Antietam during the Matrix Sale.

And I'll probably pick up the skin pack for WOFF, too.

$30 for Steam and Iron: Russo-Japanese War?  I thought it was $35.  Is there a discount for Steam and Iron owners or was this a beta tester discount?  Thx...

surprising not, the play has gotten better as the drivers have improved. I usually look real close at the specs, some i have to dial back more than others. I have 8 gig's of ram and check to see what games use when i play. The most the graphics have grabbed is 1 gig and the graphics can use up to 1.70 gigs for graphics. You'll notice alot of the games i buy aren't the lastest and greatest, I'll never be playing skyrim or anything with a min. needed of 1 gig in the graphics department. I do a demo whenever possible. I just reinstalled steam this Feb. after not having it for 5 years as i was still playing on a p3 single core 1 gig processor with 512 of ram until i got this laptop, which was a gift. Once my responsibilities grow up i'll get my gaming rig ;D  the games which are 4 or 5 years old i can usually dial up to the top of the graphics food chain.

The video memory isn't the biggest performance hump, but the power you get from the separate dedicated video card processor.  I know most spec requirements just list vague video card makes with specific memory listed but there can be a big difference even between different cards.  Not having a dedicated processor has probably improved lately due to all the extra CPU cores that our games don't bother using - it allows Intel to utilize the extra core(s) sitting idle to double as a gfx processor.  A good side effect of gaming software not keeping up with all full capabilities of having multiple CPU cores!  ;)

I'm glad they've managed to capitalize on the situation and make what was once a dreadful death sentence to PC gaming (Intel integrated graphics) somewhat viable.

I bought it from the cdkey shop Kinguin, which I used in the past.  They always have good prices.  This version does require uPlay (UBIsoft's game manager), does not use Steam.  No big deal to me since I have a few other games that require uPlay anyways.  Received my game key instantly and now downloading.  It is a huge download (19-20 GB) and with my slow internet speed, it will take nearly a day to download:(  If you buy it, make sure to read the activate license page to see how to do it correctly.

There weren't many left when I grabbed it off Amazon. I want to say it was the last one but I just double checked and I was wrong, there were six left. Now there's five.  ;)

I thought there was only one left of something I ordered of the three, but it seems they each have a handful still left. Like you I had to grab it while I could.

Don't know yet, Grim, but I expect it will add a lot more immersion. Anyhow, when I decide to go "all in" on a game, I tend to buy all the DLC(which the exception of the semi-fantasy "field mods" of RoF).

Wanted to get Panzer Corps for $20, but the in app purchases totaling $60 or more is insane, so that's off the radar.

I've been wondering if Football Manager '14 has added an MLS draft feature in it's Classic Mode yet.

I just don't enjoy all the touchy-feely primadonna crap in the regular mode, so Classic is the one for me.  But a sports manager game with no draft, but automated computer picks in their stead is missing some of the fun.  :-\

Nefro- I plan on checking it out today.  I'll let you know about the draft.  My favorite way of playing is to go into the editor and create a fictional team in England's lowest league.  The team is completely empty except for an Assistant Manager.  I then build the team by signing the dregs that no one else wanted.  There's no better way of instantly immersing yourself.

Grim- Anything and everything I know about soccer(football), I learned from FM.  I accidentally bought one in 99 or 2000 thinking it was an American Football manager game.  I haven't regretted it at all.  This series is so well done.  I only wish these guys would do an American Football version.

The in-game manual & help files make it easy to learn the basics.  Much of the rules & deals are actually quite simple compared to some American sports.

Start playing with Classic Mode.  It lets you get down to the essentials and cuts out some of the extra crap that (IMO) doesn't add much to the fun.

Thanks...I have played the prior versions and the management/presentation is top notch.....so just a matter of me ever figuring out the football lingo (loans, transfers, tactics, etc.)....I did buy it this morning, so I am willing to give it a shot for $20 again:)

The in-game manual & help files make it easy to learn the basics.  Much of the rules & deals are actually quite simple compared to some American sports.

After taking it for a spin for a few hours, I have to say it looks great.  I really like the way they've used Steam to add mods to the game.  I haven't got to the game engine yet but I really like what I see so far.

The presentation is awesome and the match gameplay is really good.....can't wait to dive into this deeper.

Not really a sale damage, but I did just drop a little Xmas money on the DayZ stand alone on Steam.

I just gave in as well. It's D/Ling on my gaming rig as we speak. I really hope the standalone will actually allow me to play more than a few minutes at a time, unlike the mod. As far as the whole 'get it in alpha while it's cheap' thing goes I can't imagine any game like this costing $60 bucks on Steam so I've already resigned myself to seeing it released at close to what I just paid (or even less a month later).  ::)

I doubt it will sell for much more than it's current price or maybe a few bucks more.  Really I bought it now because I want to play it now, not to get some sort of deal.

Finally finished blowing through $50 worth of iTunes credit, grabbed several board games for my ipad including Ticket to Ride (US and Europe), Agricola, Lords of Waterdeep, and Alien Encounters. Also got a cool little Space Shuttle landing sim for $0.99 called F-Sim Shuttle.

Ok, finished up my holiday spending today with:

Memorable Dungeons pack from GoG.com (Legend of Grimrock, Ultima Underworld, Stonekeep and a few others)

and Scourge of War: Chancellorsville, Antietam, and Pipe Creek from Matrix.

I believe that's going to be it for me for holiday spending!

I was going to add both Scourge of War: Antietam and Scourge of War: Chancellorsville, but discovered that I already purchased Antietam at some point in 2013. So, I added Chancellorsville, thus ending my holiday spending spree to the tune of $140 total.

Just got back last night near midnight and had three games waiting for me...

Picket Duty, a solitaire game where you control a destroyer while staving off kamikaze attacks. A steep price tag at $65, but the components are amazing - thick, great artwork, very high attention to detail.

Star Trek Attack Wing. Already have the X-Wing minis game so I thought I'd give this a try. Not a huge fan of the models, might need to brush over them a bit to fill in some detail. Next I want to order the Reliant.

Swing States 2012. I'm a fan of political sims in general and this looked like a lot of fun. It's a solitaire game where you choose to either run the Democrat or Republican ticket, pick your candidate and running mate, and go to town. However, Victory Point Games apparently didn't want to bother with packing; when I opened the box it looked like someone hurriedly threw in all the cards. The paper wrap to hold it was in there, empty. Once I reorganized everything the cards fit into the paper sleeves tightly, which tells me someone got lazy and just tossed everything in there like...a tosser. The components look pretty cool (I got the boxed version instead of the bagged version), though. I'm pretty surprised how pissed off I am that this was so shoddily packed.

Sigh.  I *almost* made it through the rest of the season unscathed, but I couldn't resist...

I just picked up three of the expansions for Crusader Kings II, two of which (The Republic and The Old Gods) were on sale.  I also grabbed Sons of Abraham at the regular price of $9.99.

With the CK2 DLC added onto my earlier purchase of Pandora: First Contact, I've now spent almost exactly $45.00 on games this holiday season.  I'm not thrilled with my lack of willpower, but I suppose I could do worse.  ::)

It's always better to have, rather than to have not.
