I haven't played straight M&B, but I have played Warband to death. Warband is one of the best games I have played. After I got tired of vanilla, I installed a Game of Thrones mod and I was in heaven for another 70 hours. Oh man, those were some great times. The game is still stellar to this day.

Another game I probably own somewhere else, but added to my GoG library anyway :P

IIRC, Warband added multi-player and more content.

Think the original M&B (this freebie) is just single-player sandbox with fewer factions.
