Has anyone played XCOM2 with the star wars mod? I just watched a video on it last night and now I see GOG has it for 75% off. Is the mod any good? (it looked pretty awesome)

I've never tried the mod, but XCOM 2 vanilla is well worth the $15.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Well, it looks like the GOG version doesn't support mods, so I'll wait for it to go on sale at Steam!
