The free FTL Advanced Edition announced last November will be available April 3rd.

Interesting.  I loved the original, but somehow didn't play it very much.  Got sucked into the Eador games instead...

 New race, new random encounters, and new ship sub systems... according to Pocket Tactics.
All this was adds during the conversion to a iPad version, so the PC version gets the new stuff too.
IPad version due out April 3.

Advanced Edition is now available.  I got my free upgrade from GOG about an hour ago and I've been fiddling with the game.  The new ship and new race both seem interesting.  I like the improvements to the game interface.

This was a good game when it came out, and it is even better now.

I like the changes a lot. It is still a roguelike, and you will die, a LOT, but it's fun, and interesting. Highly recommended.
