Title: 5 Free Osprey Ebooks a week for four weeks
Post by: Destraex on March 23, 2020, 05:01:53 PM
For those not familiar with osprey books, they are books that concentrate on very specific military history subjects have commissioned artwork to illustrate them and are great little summarys of things. I have probably got at least 300 of them each on something very specific. They can be on a campaign, vehicle, weapon, order of battle, aces, troop type etc. Osprey books cover the entirety of military history from before the egyptians to the present day.

First weeks free books, I just got them, you apply the coupon at the bottom of your basket not the checkout to get them for free, you can add them all and then apply the coupon once and it will take the tally to zero:

I now have them on my phone and open them through apple books as epub files.
I hate reading off a screen but will take these free osprey books. They usually cost around $30 each here.

Thanks for the link.  Question, it downloads the ebooks and it is viewed using Overdrive.  Is there a way to have the books show up on the Kindle Book section on the Home screen?

Thanks

I am not reading them on kindle. Because I got them on epub to use on my iphone and I hate pdf files for this sort of thing.
The kindle incidentally cannot read epub, you would have to convert the books to mobi format. The kindle will read mobi. From memeory a program called calibre will do that.

Damned.  I was hoping for a book about Medieval Polish Armies 966-1400.  Maybe better luck next time.   (c) Little Britain https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4n10h

I am having a difficult time finding the section for the books on the website, what is the method to find it? Thanks

I found it and place in the basket but it doesn't show anything in the basket or checkout, I wonder what's wrong?

Another problem, got the books in the checkout, apply coupon, and it keeps saying I am not in the right store for checkout, shows the required field star and I have the same address as last time.  Help

demjansk1942, make sure you have selected the correct region for you.  Its a drop down in the upper right corner of the screen.  I select United States for me.  UK, Canada and Rest of World are the other choices.

I'm experiencing the same thing right now as well.  There must be a lot of people out there taking advantage of this offer.

Strange.  I was able to place my Week 3 order earlier this week with only 1 hiccup towards the end.  Did a retry and it went through fairly quickly from what I remember.  Prior to just a few minutes ago, I had only downloaded 2 of 15 free PDFs.  I just downloaded all the rest in less than 1 minute (really wish Osprey would name the downloads by title!).  So, maybe the problem has been resolved or maybe its your locations or ISP?  I'm in northern Virginia and use Comcast.

For those having issues with Osprey, possibly solution for you. Seems they are having trouble with the wrong country being assigned to people as their store. For example, by default I was put in United Kingdom store and I didn't realize that, then I added all my free books and attempted to checkout. Then received message said I had incorrect store because of my address not matching United Kingdom. I tried changing the country (at top of screen) and continue to lock up and even when I tried login, would often time out. I figured out the issue was because of the incorrect store and the items in my cart being selected when I had the incorrect country set.

To fix it:

1) Login to the site while the incorrect country is set (in my case United Kingdom)...this will allow you to login. The country dropdown at top of the screen must be set to the incorrect country that was set when you first added your books to the cart.

2) Go to your shopping cart, remove all the contents you added when you had the incorrect country selected.

3) Now go to the top of the screen and change the country to the correct one (in my case United States)

4) Then go and re-add all the free books again.

5) Then go through the checkout process and it will work fine.

It appears there is some issue between the country it selects for you and the items in your cart being linked to that. Following the steps above, worked great for me and instantly was able to get my books after struggling the last few days.

Hope this helps people who might be experiencing the same problem.
