I place this here because the facts are taken from a book written by uber-fan, Daniel Wallace.  What would you say to Eddie Murphy as Venkman?  Christopher Walken as Egon?  That Slimer is never named in the movie, as such?  Lot's more where that came from:

They definitely wanted Eddie Murphy. I can't imagine what that would have looked like. The movie would have revolved around him, for better or worse.

Would not be one of my favorites if it revolved around Murphy. I love him, but I love Murray more.
