Im finding that the brilliance of Capaldis Doctor is that hes the Doctor you would be.  you want to be a Smith or a Tennent because theyre fun and light.  but this guy....  he's my Monday morning with no coffee, no filter and heres a sandwich of STFU.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Watched episode 2 yesterday, and thought it was pretty good.

New series is heck of a lot darker and reminds me of the classic series - but with better SFX.

Well, if his regenerations restarted then he's kind of in 1st Doctor mode, so that makes sense.  O0

I found this - a tabletop pen paper & dice roleplay game:

Looks interesting. There's a UNIT add-on for it as well. Anyone played this? Reports?

Late to the party, I finally watched episodes 1 & 2 and all I can say is...meh. I had such high hopes for Capaldi but so far I'm not seeing a big difference in Doctor Who overall. Maybe it will get better, I certainly hope so. Moffat had a real chance to change Doctor Who here but so far I'm just not seeing it.  :(

Oh man. I haven't done a Dr Who RPG since the FASA game in the 80s.

Well, whatever. I think Capaldi has potential but is being held back by bad writing. There's nothing about special about these first two episodes. Eccleston, Tennant or Smith could have played the Doctor in them. Like I said I hope it gets better.

I didn't think he was that bad.  I thought he was great in some parts of that 80's run, and it looked like the BBC execs weren't big fans of the series at this point, which did not help.  Wasn't a fan of whoever designed his costume, and I think he made the most of what he was given at that point.

Interesting note, I think he was in Montreal last weekend for ComicCon.

I think the writing is fine.  in the last 2 months Ive seen every episode since 2005 and these are well done.  the catch is that hes pretty much a dick in a way that I would be a dick if I had a TARDIS and a 3000 IQ.   :2funny:

Me too.

The first two episodes didn't convince me either but you really have to watch up to the latest episode to start to 'get' Capaldi. He's not as approachable as Smith or Tennant but there are scenes in Robot of Sherwood and Listen that start to define his character in a much deeper way. He is though, a grumpy old bastard.

I played that too, but FASA was a tactical system shoehorned into the show that didn't really fit the genre for many people. The current game is much better.
