I now have ASUS TF700T-B1-GR 10.1-Inch Tablet. I'd like an app for watching battery charge and MS Word - as well as good turm-based games.  What's a good place to go for these? Thanks.

Great stuff! I have Zulus on my iPad but Wesnoth is a must.

I configured my ASUS TF700T-B1-GR 10.1-Inch Tablet today and it's great. I'm going to bite the bullet and buy the key board.

Thanks. CommandTent

Bismarck - don't forget Joni Nuutinens wargames, the North Africa one is a good starter!

Also look for DK Simulations wargames.

Templar Assault is a really good Space Hulk clone.

Rebuild - zombie strategy game.

Tools I use

gReader for my RSS feeds
Lux Dash for intelligent brightness control
Dash Clock for main widget & lock page
Nova Launcher for customising UI/features
Picfolio for image management/viewing
ES File explorer
Plume for twitter
Comixology for Comics
Zinio for magazines

I was underwhelmed by Populus Romanus.  It felt very bland to me, and I couldn't muster an excitement for playing it.

Do you have an alternative to recommend instead?

no, sadly I don't

I also don't have a tablet, so that cuts down on my android gaming, but my go-to phone games are Androminion (the last v2 build; can't stand the v3 UI), Carcassonne, and Small General.  I enjoyed the original Sea Empire, and v2 wasn't bad, but the new-fangled graphics on v3 killed the charm and makes it harder to play.

I've tried to play Wesnoth (a game I LOVE) and FreeCiv on my Stratosphere, and it's just not happening.  I'll need to hold out for a tablet.  I'm thinking this year at Christmas, there will finally be an el-cheapo Android tablet I can get at Big Lots for $50 and I'll get one primarily for 'board' games/reading and be perfectly happy.

I also have the same Asus tablet as you.  It's my first tablet, and I've had it about two months.

First - get the keyboard!  Besides the vastly increased ease of typing, it features a mouse (the kind you find on laptops), another slot for another micro SD card, and a USB port.  (You can plug in a real mouse in the USB port - or a hard drive).
And transferring things to the tablet is much easier with a flash drive in the USB slot than popping  the micro SD card in and out.

Second, there is a case specially designed for the Asus 700T.  It also holds the keyboard.  Less than $20 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Transformer-Infinity-Portfolio-Cover-Black/dp/B008LM04T6
The reviews are spot on.

For a MS Word clone, try Kingsoft Office.  It's fine and free.

Play your old DOS wargames with Dosbox Turbo and its front end Dosbox Manager.

Finally, after a while you may want/need a virtual keyboard with keys like Escape, Alt, Control, directional, etc.
You might try one of these.
