Since I can't afford a new rig at the moment, and have not seen a refurb one that takes my fancy, I decided to take an interim step and bung a new GPU in to replce the old nVidia 210 I had. As luck would have it, my local PC World store had the GT 430 going at a discounted price, so I just pootled over and got one and now it installed.

It also meant that I did not have to replace my 300W PSU, since thats what the new cards needs minimum, so thats another 20 quid saved (yeah, yeah, I know - I'm a cheapskate).

Anyroadup, it does seem a lot better performance now, and I'm back to playing TW Empires until I can afford Shogun2 and the expansion.

So, its a case of new GPU, but no PSU until I get a new CPU, PDQ, ASAP..........QED!

As long as your happy and it has improved game play, then that's all that matters.
