I think so.  Gearbox is now getting a lot of feedback from the old crowd and seems to be responding to any issues.  yesterday they had 2 patches come out.

a world of hurt inbound.  the 4th strike craft in the 2nd ground is piloted by Toonces.  he died but his watch survived.

You mention Toonces piloted a craft in that battle.  Does the game allow you to pilot individual craft and ignore giving orders to the other ships?

no but there is a way to get a cockpit view from any ship and go along for the ride.  IIRC you can still kind of control hot keyed groups this way.

Yeah those horos on the ground look like watermelons. 
This is the main Sengoku campaign but modded with Morning Sun.  This has more provinces and also includes Korea (Joseon Kingdom).
